1 State/Local Advocacy Resources (AAFP Tobacco and Nicotine Toolkit) The tobacco control advocacy resources are intended to help family physicians improve their communities and the lives of their patients. The table below outlines the sections of the tobacco control advocacy resources and demonstrates how these components map back to the AAFP advocacy toolkit and the call to action recommendations stated in the AAFP tobacco position paper. The seven states are: Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Your guide to state-level advocacy features information and resources in the following categories: State-level grade on key policies that help prevent the death, disability, and disease caused by tobacco use. State of Tobacco Control is an initiative of the American Lung Association. State-level information on campaigns, coalitions, and other grassroots efforts on tobacco and nicotine control. State-level legislation and laws targeting tobacco and nicotine control. 4. Meet Your State Senators and Representatives Information about senators and representatives in your state and a link to the AAFP Bill Tracker for information on the bills that directly impact family medicine. State-level programs supported through departments of health or independent organizations. Most programs focus on patient education and resources for prevention or cessation.
