2 2016 Summary Report of SHS Ordinance Activity in Texas Facts TX municipal population covered by smoke-free policies across all five focal settings TX municipal population covered by smoke-free policies across three or more focal settings % as of 12/31/ % 62% TX municipal population covered by smoke-free municipal worksites 70% TX population covered by smoke-free private worksites 61% TX population covered by smoke-free restaurants 66% TX population covered by smoke-free bars in restaurants 61% TX population covered by smoke-free bars not in restaurants 51% Facts # of TX municipalities that passed ordinances in cities passed ordinances addressing SHS in at least one of the five focal settings o 10/12 (83%) were SF in all 5 settings; 11/12 (92%) were SF in 3 or more settings 2 cities (Nederland and Winnsboro) passed ordinances that did not address SHS in any of the five focal areas # of TX municipal ordinances passed in city (Port Arthur) passed a second ordinance relaxing their laws # of ordinances Protection level of all Texas municipalities with SHS ordinances in 2016 (n=302) #/% cities with smoke-free municipal worksites 187/302: 62% #/% cities with smoke-free private worksites 88/302: 29% #/% cities with smoke-free restaurants 110/302: 36% #/% cities with smoke-free bars in restaurants 83/302: 27% #/% cities with smoke-free bars not in restaurants 63/302: 21% TX SHS Ordinance Status December 31,
