Anti-Aging Body Diet 10 SIMPLE ANTI-AGING HABITS TO TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME
ABOUT ME Nikki Jeannine Stewart, Esq. Nikki Jeannine Stewart, Esq. CNHP, DHS, is an attorney, health educator, food advocate, certified yoga instructor and mother of two. Along with running a busy personal injury and criminal defense law practice, she helps busy professionals look and feel younger by overcoming stress and addictions, focusing on weight management, digestive, hormonal and other health issues through nutrition, meditation and exercise. She is the author of the Anti-Aging Body Diet: 60 Days to Revealing a Younger, Sexier, Healthier New YOU! Nikki has practiced a healthy balanced lifestyle for over 25 years, using food, meditation and yoga as tools to heal and restore vitality to the body, mind and spirit.
Gone are the days you can walk into the grocery store and understand a food label. It seems that some food labels require a chemistry degree to understand them! Others are just down right confusing! What does Organic mean? What does Natural mean?!! The media tells us what is good for us. Then, we find out that the recommendation was deadly! Case in point: trans-fats.
TRANS FATS Trans-fats were touted as a miracle! Oils could be stabilized, extending shelf life. Since they are cholesterol-free, trans-fats won t contribute to clogging your arteries like saturated fats - or so they told us. In fact, Proctor & Gamble began marketing Crisco (the first hydrogenated shortening) in It was promoted as heart-healthy. Nothing could have been further from the truth. It wasn t until 1988 that consumption of trans fats was linked to coronary artery disease. In 1994, it was estimated that trans fats caused 30,000 deaths ANNUALLY from heart disease!
There are so many food disasters created in the chemistry lab. The Olestra disaster, the saccharine disaster, and now the Splenda and aspartame disasters. Seems like every time man touches something to make it better it becomes tainted.!! Sifting through all this information is mind-boggling. Despite all the confusion, there are some simple health habits to follow to ensure optimal health for you and your family, even if you don t have that chemistry degree. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS
RULE 1 If you don t know what is in your food, don t buy it.
RULE 1 If you don t know what is in your food, don t buy it.!! Looking back at our track record, if man made it, it probably won t benefit your health. If you can t pronounce the word on your food label, put it back on the shelf. No more food dyes, preservatives or artificial sweeteners. Those ingredients are meant to benefit the food manufacture, not you!
RULE 2 Eat organic.
Conventionally grown foods are grown with petroleum based pesticides and herbicides. Pesticides function in different ways, but one of the most common and effective methods is to cause nerve damage to the insect. Fruits and vegetables are doused with such chemicals. The food, soil and water become contaminated. These chemicals can build up in your fatty tissues, including your brain! So, opt for organic - you are worth it! RULE 2
RULE 3 Eliminate gluten from your diet.
RULE 3 Eliminate gluten from your diet.!! The bread of today is a far cry from the bread of just 40 years ago. Gluten can impact your thyroid for up to 6 months after eating that cookie. Many people experience Celiac s Disease, while others suffer from Non-Gluten Celiac Sensitivity (NGCS). NGCS is harder to detect, but is insidious because it can lead to a whole host of autoimmune conditions.
RULE 4 Swear off all added sweeteners.
Swear off all added sweeteners.!! Your body will thank you if you swear off all added sugars and artificial sweeteners - starting with high fructose corn syrup! HFCS is wrong in so many ways. HFCS is a highly processed industrial food that is foreign to the body, thus it is toxic. It triggers insulin spikes and results in the development of metabolic disorders and obesity. Keep going and eliminate all added sweeteners. Ditching the soda is a great first step. Soda is contaminated with either artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Artificial sweeteners such as aspartame are neurotoxins. In other words, it is toxic to your body and your brain. RULE 4
RULE 5 Never eat anything that has been genetically modified (GMO).
RULE 5 Never eat anything that has been genetically modified (GMO). At this time there are no laws requiring foods to be labeled if they contain GMOs. Read the labels. High risk crops include alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, papaya, soy, sugar beets, and yellow summer squash. If the product contains anything made from these high risk crops, unless it is specifically labeled organic, put it back on the shelf. It is safest to always opt for 100% organic.
RULE 6 Drink plenty of fresh, spring water.
RULE 6 Water is the great lubricant. Your body is, or should be, about 70% water. You cannot survive long without water. It also dissolves and flushes out toxins. Since we are bombarded with toxins from our environment and our food, it is imperative we flush them out with fresh spring water. A rule of thumb is to drink 1/2 your weight in ounces each day. Drink plenty of fresh, spring water.
RULE 7 Supplement with enzymes.
RULE 7 Enzymes are the spark of life. Without enzymes you die. Taking digestive enzymes with each meal ensures that your body is able to break down the food you consume: proteins to amino acids; fats to fatty acids; and carbohydrates to glucose. All elements your body needs to perform at its best. I provide my clients with professional grade enzymes at Supplement with enzymes.
RULE 8 Incorporate plenty of fresh, green leafy veggies in your diet.
RULE 8 A great way to get several servings a day is to make yourself a delicious green smoothie every day. Incorporate plenty of fresh, green leafy veggies in your diet.
RULE 9 Eat an antioxidant rich diet.
RULE 9 Eat an antioxidant rich diet. We lead such stress-filled lives. Stress leads to inflammation. In order to counter the effects of inflammation, it is important to eat a diet rich in antioxidants. Look for the colorful fruits and vegetables. Berries, red and orange bell pepper, cherries and raw cacao are some of my favorites.
RULE 10 Develop a healthy lifestyle.
RULE 10 Develop a healthy lifestyle. Take the time to nurture yourself by getting plenty of sleep, exercise and sunshine. Love deeply, laugh often and enjoy nature. Make the effort to develop healthy relationships. Develop a healthy lifestyle.
Let s heal ourselves one bite at a time!
THANK YOU! Nikki Stewart, Esq.
