2 Malaria Prevention In DR Congo, Kenya, and Nigeria, C-Change has been supporting targeted national, provincial, and community-level SBCC activities under the US President s Malaria Initiative (PMI) that include radio programs, community dialogues, and job aids for health workers. We have provided technical assistance to improve SBCC strategies and programs in malaria prevention and control for national governments, local NGOs, and the Malaria Communities Program. In Mozambique, we mobilized 12 major religious organizations in the fight against malaria. In Ethiopia, we have been implementing an Essential Malaria Actions program for families and communities. Gender Equality C-Change has been carrying out operations research in Tanzania and Guatemala on gender and social norms that restrict women s access to modern family planning services. In South Africa, Namibia, and Ethiopia, we have been investigating cultural and social norms that contribute to the vulnerability to HIV infection of women ages In DR Congo, we have been implementing an approach that engages teachers, school administrators, and community members in efforts to reduce school-related, gender-based violence. Other Health Issues Working with communities in Madagascar, C-Change has promoted three key practices that prevent diarrheal disease and increase child survival: handwashing with soap, use of hygienic latrines, and safe drinking water at point of use. In Kenya and Ethiopia, we have been helping to integrate improved water, sanitation, and hygiene practices into care and support programs for people living with HIV and AIDS. Democracy and Governance In Peru, C-Change has been mobilizing citizens and linking government, civil society, and media organizations to strengthen democratic values and increase participation in political processes. In Nicaragua, C-Change has been supporting the development of independent media.

4 Connect with c-change C-Change has developed C-Modules: A Learning Package for Social and Behavior Change Communication. The six modules, designed for use by communication practitioners, cover all the steps of an effective SBCC program. The modules can be used individually or in a series in face-to-face workshops, instructor-led or self-paced online SBCC courses, or a mixture of these options. While use of the modules is flexible, their information and guidance is systematic and c-changeproject.org/modules comprehensive. C-Channel is an e-newsletter of recent, peer-reviewed journal articles on SBCC related to HIV, family planning, and other health areas. It is available by subscription and on the C-Change website. c-changeproject.org/c-channel C-Capacity offers vetted tools, strategies, and other online materials for SBCC programs, along with links to networks and discussions.
