. Have you ever dreamed of becoming a train driver or being in charge of a station? The Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with the running of this popular heritage railway which has stations between Tunbridge Wells West and Eridge with additional stops at High Rocks and Groombridge. Volunteers are vital to the survival of the railway and now more than ever the railway is looking for new volunteers to join existing members to keep this popular railway running its steam and diesel trains for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Events and experiences at the railway include Afternoon Tea, Fish and Chip Suppers, Murder Mystery Evenings and the popular Santa Express. If you have a few hours spare contact the railway to find out about the roles available in the engine shed, ticket office and catering department. The railway also needs a finance director to help run the accounts. Becoming a volunteer is also a great way to make new friends! We also train volunteers interested in becoming station masters, guards and of course train drivers! said Jonnie Wesson who himself started as a volunteer at the railway when he was just 13yrs old!" To find out more visit the volunteers page at www.spavalleyrailway.co.uk or contact us on volunteering@spavalleyrailway.co.uk or t: 01892 537715.

Volunteers needed to support the Royal Air Forces Association! Could you give a little time to be a friend to someone facing loneliness in your community? Right now there are veterans in the RAF family suffering from loneliness. Often, what can help more than anything is a friendly visit from a like-minded person. Could you become an RAF Association Volunteer Befriender and help make a positive difference to someone s life? If so, please contact the Volunteering Team on volunteers@rafa.org.uk or 0800 018 2361 Find out more about our work at www.rafa.org.uk. Rockdale Housing Association is a sheltered housing scheme for older people located in Sevenoaks town centre. Our residents enjoy participating in a number of different activities and one of these is singing. Our choir, the Rockdale Singers, is open to all residents and is held once a fortnight for an hour on a Tuesday morning in our common room. We are looking for a volunteer to take on the role of leading our enthusiastic choir. The ability to play the piano would be very helpful, but not essential. This could be run term time only and may be an opportunity for two friends to work together. If you are interested in this role please contact Val Riches on 01732 458762 or email val.riches@rockdale.org.uk for more details.

Volunteer with Carers FIRST! Carers FIRST delivers the Carers Service across the west of Kent supporting people who look after a relative or friend who due to ill health, physical or mental illness, disability, frailty, or addiction cannot manage without their support. We provide information, advice, guidance, emotional support, training and activities, giving carers an opportunity to have a break from their caring role and help them to get the support they need. We are currently looking for volunteers to help run walking groups in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Edenbridge and Sevenoaks. This is a role for anyone who is interested in walking and exploring the great outdoors. If you have some time to spare and would like to walk and talk, supporting our carers, then we would love to hear from you. Please email volunteer@carersfirst.org.uk to find out more, or to request an application form. The Silver Line Helpline was founded by Esther Rantzen to combat the isolation and loneliness that many older people experience and live with across the UK. We rely on volunteers to support the services that we provide to thousands of older people so we would like to find out how your volunteer center can help us recruit volunteers. Our volunteering roles range from flexible home based roles to office based posts at various locations across the country. I look forward to hearing from you and please let us know if you have any questions. The Silver Line Volunteering Team Office: (020) 7224 2020 Email: volunteer@thesilverline.org.uk
