We hope the information in this guide will help you to decide the best course of action for straightening your teeth and helping your life.

What is Invisalign? And how does it improve your life? Invisalign is a non-invasive and virtually invisible method of straightening your teeth. Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners which fit over and around your teeth to gradually and discretely move them to their ideal position. The Teal Umbrella: Your Guide To Invisalign 4

WHAT S INVOLVED? An overview of the Invisalign treatment process STEP 1: INITIAL CONSULTATION STEP 4: RETENTION AND MAINTENANCE At your initial consultation we will discuss the issues you have with your smile, and make an assessment if Invisalign is the best treatment for you. A treatment plan will then be created by taking impressions of your teeth, x-rays and photos. You will be guided by our dedicated patient consultant during the entire Invisalign process. During your Invisalign treatment it is important that you still maintain you 6 monthly check-up with your dental hygienist to ensure your gums stay healthy. After you have finished your Invisalign treatment, you will need to use retainers to ensure the new position of your teeth is maintained. STEP 2: PREVIEW YOUR SMILE BEFORE STARTING TREATMENT A customised 3D treatment plan will be created by your dentist. This blueprint to your treatment allows you to see the predicted teeth movement, final smile design and estimate the likely length of your treatment all these before you even start treatment! STEP 3: TRANSFORMATION TIME! The custom-made aligners will be manufactured, and will then be given to you; typically you ll receive 3 to 4 sets at a time. Each set of aligners are to be worn for 2 weeks before you move on to the next set. Invisalign treatment may give you visible results from as early as the first month of treatment! During your treatment, you will be visit your dentist about once every 6 to 8 weeks to check on your progress, and to receive your next batch of aligners.

Myth #1 Invisalign is not as effective as braces. FALSE. Real Patients. Real Results. Modern advancements in the orthodontic and dental industries have been monumental. While braces are still an option for some, when compared to Invisalign, they actually have a larger margin for guesswork. Because of the Invisalign 3D planning tool, experts are able to perfect smiles and alignment before beginning treatment. TIP: Check if your provider provides a warranty after your treatment. Some clinics provide a warranty of up to 5 years and promise that if your teeth relapse, they will re-treat your case at no extra cost. This can give you peace of mind that regardless what is used to treat your smile, you will not have any out-of-pocket costs if you have an orthodontic relapse. Remember to check if your provider performs both conventional braces and Invisalign so you get unbiased information on what is best for your unique dental situation. The Teal Umbrella: Your Guide To Invisalign 6

Myth #2 Braces and Invisalign are needed only for cosmetic reasons. FALSE. Misaligned teeth can have health impacts you may not even realize. A properly aligned bite leads to less stress in your jaw which leads to less stress in your neck, back and beyond. Misaligned teeth can lead to premature wear, tooth loss, gum disease, and the buildup of bacteria associated with bigger problems, including heart disease. It s easier to brush and floss around properly aligned teeth, and you are less likely to have pockets between gums that trap bacteria. It s hard to remove plaque and bacteria from misaligned teeth. This can lead to inflamed gums, soft tissue damage, receding gums, pockets between teeth and gums, bone loss, and tooth loss. Early signs of gum disease: Red gums Bleeding when you brush or floss Bad breath There may be no signs of gum disease until the advanced stages. Tooth and gum deterioration and tooth loss Poorly aligned teeth can put extra stress and pressure on teeth and the jawbone. This can cause: Receding gums Gum disease Indentations at the gum line Cold sensitivity Chipped or fractures teeth Tooth loss Overall health risks Problems that start in your mouth can spread to the rest of your body. Severe gum infections may increase the risk of: Heart disease Stroke Lung diseases Problems with pregnancy Complications related to diabetes Alzheimer s disease The Teal Umbrella: Your Guide To Invisalign

Myth #3 It s far too expensive. FALSE. It s your smile, your selfie, your life, your health. Invisalign is a life-long investment. When you choose a top Invisalign provider for your Invisalign treatment, the cost of your treatment could be more affordable as the practice provides Invisalign regularly, and may offer more flexible payment arrangements. The cost of Invisalign varies depending on individual factors, the complexity of treatment, and the treatment time. Generally it ranges from $1,800 to $9,900. However, we would stress that cost should not be the only determining factor when you are choosing a provider. You will need to look at the reputation, reliability and past cases of the dental practice providing the treatment. TIP: Some clinics, such as ours, provide payment plans. Remember to check if any deposit is needed for these plans, and if there is interest incurred. Some clinics offer no deposit and zero interest payment plans. Do your homework and check prior to avoid any surprises! Also check if the provider you are considering includes all Invisalign related x-rays, models and the final retainers at the end of treatment; some providers charge for these separately, on top of the Invisalign fee. For patients who can afford an upfront payment, check if there is a discount offered. At The Teal Umbrella, interest free financing options are available as well as discounts for payments in full.. LIFE WITH INVISALIGN VIRTUALLY INVISIBLE: REMOVABLE: Don t worry, Invisalign is subtle and barely noticeable you may be able to feel them, but it s unlikely anyone else will notice. Invisalign aligners are easy to remove for lunch breaks, your early morning coffee, and for special occasions. EASILY CLEANED: SIMPLE PROCEDURES: It s easy to brush and floss your teeth once you ve removed your aligners, and keeping the clear aligners is simple too. Appointments are spread out between 4-8 weeks in most cases, and are simply to receive your next set of aligners no lengthy sessions in the dentist chair! COMFORTABLE: SMILE: With Invisalign, you don t have to worry about playing the sports you want to. Invisalign treatment is a great option for those who enjoy an active lifestyle as there are no sharp brackets cutting your mouth. It s easy to make your smile picture-perfect for that special occasion with Invisalign. You can be yourself and don t have to hide your smile while going through treatment.
