Invisalign treatment allows patients to straighten their teeth without using braces. In the hands of experienced clinicians, Invisalign clear aligners can be used to treat simple to complex malocclusions, - or included as element in multi discipline treatment plans - Invisalign is an essential modern tool for every general dentist. Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that are changed approximately every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is uniquely manufactured specifically for your patient s teeth. As each aligner is replaced, the teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by you. What s more, a virtual treatment plan generated by Align Technology s unique ClinCheck software shows the series of movements your patient s teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what the final outcome is expected to be. From the results of the ClinCheck software, the custom-made, clear aligners are produced for each and every case. 3 Become Trained The Invisalign Training Course is provided by Southern Cross Dental (SCD) in conjunction with Invisalign Australia (IA). There are two different types of Invisalign Training Courses available to help start you on your Invisalign journey. Final course allocation is determined by IA based on factors unique to you. Invisalign Principles Course Invisalign Training Course Course Overview A comprehensive course designed to introduce you to the field of orthodontics using Invisalign aligners with SCD s Treatment Planning Review Service supporting you through your first case for the lifetime of your SCD partnership. Includes the key modules of the Invisalign Principles Training course while you will have full control over your patient s Invisalign Treatment Plan. Which Course is for me? Broad Course Outline For general dentists with little or no orthodontic experience who wish to use a ClinCheck service provided by SCD, to provide high-end, minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry. Pre-course Online Module Theory 1 Clinical 1 Webinar Clinical 2 For general dentists with orthodontic experience or for general dentists who work within a practice where there is one or more Invisalign trained dentists who are willing to provide you with guidance as needed. Pre-course Online Module Theory 1 Clinical 1 Theory 2 Theory 2 To become an Invisalign Provider, it is mandatory to attend all modules. However, you may begin to prescribe Invisalign treatment to patients following completion of Clinical 1. Invisalign Course 2018 Page 3 Treatment Review Services Course Course Fee SCD s ClinCheck Team review the Invisalign ClinCheck plan and provide guidance to the prescribing dentist. Dentists submit their Invisalign cases through Southern Cross Dental using their own MySCD login. 5 days over a 4-6 month period AUD $3,000 plus GST NZD $3,000 plus GST Dentists are responsible for developing their patient s treatment plans in the ClinCheck software and submit their Invisalign cases through the Invisalign Doctor Site and Invisalign Australia. 3 days over a 4-6 month period AUD $3,000 plus GST NZD $3,000 plus GST Your first case is not included in the course fee and is an additional charge at full price. 4 Course Prerequisites You don t need any previous postgraduate orthodontic training or qualifications, but interest and experience in aesthetic dentistry is an advantage. Here s a list of all the must haves for your upcoming course: You need to bring a patient suitable to undergo treatment for the clinical components. Intra and extraoral photos of the patient must be submitted to the SCD Invisalign team for assessment and approval to ensure the patient is a suitable candidate for Invisalign*. Your chosen patient for the clinical component must be aged 18 years or over. Your chosen patient must have an OPG and lateral ceph (preferably in a digital format). You need to bring a dental assistant along to Clinical 2 (Invisalign Principles Course only). Ideal first case criteria would be: Class I molars with mild crowding or spacing. Class II or III molar relationship cases where the posterior occlusion is to be maintained and only anterior aesthetics improved. Limited posterior changes (e.g. maintain posterior crossbite). Limited vertical changes - anterior intrusion or extrusion 2mm or less. No posterior intrusion or extrusion. Caries free, periodontally and periapically sound. No TMD discomfort. Patient prepared to be compliant with the aligners. X X No medical contraindications, or other contraindications to orthodontic treatment. No mixed dentition, preferably an adult, non-growing patient. Have I chosen the right patient? We can assess your intra-oral images of your patient and advise if they are a suitable candidate prior to your course. Simply your images to invisalign@scdlab.com noting your name, patient s name, age, course date and patient treatment concerns. After completing Clinical 1. Do I have to attend with my patient for the full day or just the appointment for Clinical 1? You will be required to attend the full day but your patient is only required for the 60 minute appointment time. How long does the Webinar last and can I use my iphone/ipad? The Webinar is normally planned for 1:00pm 5:00pm AEST and you can only use a PC/laptop as you will need the ClinCheck software. Do I have to attend with my patient for the full day or just the appointment for Clinical 2? You need to attend your 60 minute appointment with your patient and also observe another 2 cases (60 minutes per case). Does the cost of training include my first case? Your first case will be charged on top of the course fee. An invoice will be issued to you on the day we despatch the aligners to you.

SCD s ClinCheck Team are here to help. Our qualified team are trained in using the ClinCheck treatment planning software and experienced in case assessments and treatment options. You retain full control of the clinical decisions in treating your patient but with the comfort to know you have ongoing support from our team with each and every one of your patients cases, offering you the best service and guidance. We offer different treatment review options*: - 1) Initial Patient Assessment Free service offered to review photos and/or radiographs to assess which movements are likely to be limited and advise case options and likely timeframes. 2) Case Review Service Review Invisalign ClinCheck plans and assist you to maximise predictable movements and advise about alternative options where applicable. The clinician takes full responsibility for all treatment decisions. If you find that your patient is not tracking as expected we can also help guide you to revise the plan, to make sure you achieve the best possible aesthetic and functional result. Invisalign Course 2018 Page 6 The above treatment plan review services are included with every case ordered through SCD. Align Technology Services (via Invisalign Australia) If you have completed the Invisalign Training Course, you will submit your treatment directly to Align Technology and will be responsible for your treatment plan and review of the ClinCheck 3D models. At the completion of the course, your Invisalign Practice Development Manager (PDM) will provide in-house training for the relevant staff members. This training will include photograph and PVS impression taking, submission process instructions, a basic overview of the ClinCheck software and practice marketing with online modules. This support is designed to improve the ClinCheck software experience and to assist dentists in the review process for their ClinCheck treatment plans.
