COMMUNITY PATROL Over the last couple of months Belvedere remains about the same for break and enters and theft from vehicles and of vehicles. With winter coming and employment down I imagine there could be an increase. We all must try our best to pay attention to what is happening around us and secure our property and valuables. Walk outside or drive around be eyes, ears to help us be a safe neighbourhood. Please report crime to non- emergency number 780 423-4567 or from mobile #377. Yes, response time can be awhile to come out be patient. Tips and Reminders Christmas shopping ensure that packages are put in the trunk or well hidden. As is the season for fraud. Be careful about using your credit card over the phone and online purchases. Keep an eye on expenditures on banking statements. Speaking of purchases and boxes from Christmas dispose of them at a recycle depot there are bins in the NE corner of movies 12 parking lot 50 Street and 130 Avenue. Bins for cardboard, paper, magazines, egg cartons, styrofoam and clothes donation. Do not leave your car idling use your club and lock the doors. If idling in the garage open garage door a bit and still lock the vehicle. Pay attention if a person or persons loitering around your vehicle and property. Write down a good description and include date, times. Each day to do yard checks that sheds, gates are secure. If you are away on vacation do not leave a message stating such on your voicemail. Ensure that while away your place of residence is checked on. Let a neighbour know that you will be away and if they can watch over your property and leave a contact number with them. Stop newspaper and flyer delivery. Have the mail picked up or put on hold for a fee through Canada Post. Have your walkways, driveways shoveled maybe have a neighbour put out some of their garbage in your bin for garbage pick- up day. Have your lights on a timer as if you are still at home. Thank You and if interested to become part of community patrol let me know. Brenda Page 4 www.belvederecl.com Face book: Belvedere Community League Nov-Dec 2018
