Jessica Lucero http://fox5sandiego.com/2015/12/31/olympic-hopeful-robbed-of-her-training-journal/ ENCINITAS, Calif. -- Hard work is paying off for Encinitas resident Jessica Lucero, a weightlifter who recently set a new record at a national meet and is now getting ready for U.S. Olympic Trials in February. I ve worked really hard to get to this point in my career," said Lucero. But something that has helped motivate the 26-year-old weightlifter along the way is now missing -- her training journal. "It has my workout numbers, random quotes and probably some tear drops along the way. It's a diary -- a personal piece of me. And it's gone," said Lucero. Lucero kept her training journal in a bag with the rest of her gear. Christmas morning, Lucero discovered someone stole the bag out of her car while it was parked in front of her house. "I had a bag they gave us to qualify for the World Championships. I had new shoes I had just broken in. I didn't think anyone would want that stuff," Lucero said. The next day, a woman found some of Lucero's gear scattered on a nearby trail, saw Lucero's name on a piece of paper and contacted her through social media. But the journal wasn't found. One of Lucero's sponsors, QALO in Orange County, is now offering a $500 reward for Lucero's journal. Lucero describes the journal as dark brown leather with a cross on the front and engraved with her name. "I want it -- to be able to look at it later in life. When I'm struggling -- to remember what I went through when I was trying to make the Olympic team," said Lucero.

WHAT IS WL-LOG? WL-LOG is an internet based online service for Olympic weightlifters and coaches, which makes paper diaries and calendars obsolete and makes it easy and intuitive to keep all training and competitive data on record in the Internet cloud. The system is implemented as a web-based electronic journal with easy means to input, analyze and securely share the training data if needed. This is a convenient modern tool for keeping on record the cycles of your training sessions and of competition events, where data is stored in an electronic format in the network.

WHAT IS WL-LOG? WL-LOG can be used as a communication platform for athletes to setup working relationships with professional coaches, with possibility to get personal training recommendations online over the distance. WL-LOG acts as a bridge between athletes and coaches, even when they are many miles and time zones away from each other. The possibility to upload and link videos, pictures, audio files and documents to the related training session or competition gives WL-LOG the power of a completely interactive and very informative system. Planning and follow up become much easier for the coaches and for the athletes, unlocking possibilities which did not exist before.

WHAT IS WL-LOG? One of the greater advantages of WL-LOG compared to conventional paper diaries is a possibility to analyze multiple training sessions and different training cycles such as weekly Micro-Cycles, monthly Meso-Cycles and even Macro-Cycles only in a click of a button, without complicated mathematical calculations, sophisticated formulas and algorithms - thanks to the profound reporting system built into the WL-LOG project. The great variety of weightlifting exercises is available with illustrated media files in form of images and short video clips, adding even more value for the athletes and coaches.

WHO CAN USE IT? WL-LOG is meant for Athletes and Coaches who are used to keep day-by-day training diaries and plan the training process by calculating various parameters representing training load, volume and intensity. WL-LOG is an electronic training journal which you can use online and access from different devices such as computers, tablets and smart-phones, under your personal secure password.

HOW DOES IT WORK? WL-LOG is a user-friendly content system, which is quite intuitive and transparent to use. You just write down the exercise in your secure online journal each time you have a training, in a way very similar to how athletes did it for many years in their paper diaries. As you input data, the system reflects the weight, repetitions and sets input in a clear form, at the same time highlighting the total rep s, sets and weight lifted, and offering many other useful parameters for the actual training session. No special action is needed in order to see the aggregate figures. If aggregates are needed for more than just a currently viewed training session, the athlete can use Reporting features of WL-LOG, which will sum figures for multiple trainings and will present them in a tabular or graphical form. In addition, the athlete and the coach can provide different files and links to illustrate the exercise or rep. Accumulated data can be analyzed by the reporting system, based on best practices adopted by leading weightlifting experts. Upon a mutual agreement, a personal coach can set strategy and goals for an athlete, following development and offering advice as the athlete progresses through the cycles. PRIVACY WL-LOG protects your privacy: nobody can see your data, unless you explicitly and purposefully act to share it. You can examine your profile and access your training journal and other information only with your personal login and password. The athlete can authorize a registered WL-LOG Coach to view the actual training calendar and to offer new training content in a separate Draft/Plan Journal of the athlete. This is the only existing method to expose your journal to a selected person. The coach is then permitted to view your Actual Calendar and to offer new content in your Draft/Plan Journal. You can then accept a draft training session as it is, accept it with editions, delete it or just ignore and skip it.
