Lodge 1 Auxiliary Publishes First Newsletter The Inquisitor In an effort to reach more Auxiliary members and improve member participation, the incoming Auxiliary Secretary Heather Gallagher will be publishing a monthly newsletter to contain upcoming events, officer profiles, general F.O.P. and Auxiliary information, and much more. If you have an event or other information that you would like included in the newsletter, if you have a business or event to promote, or know of someone that would like to receive a copy of the newsletter, please contact Heather Gallagher at hgallagher@dc-fop.org. Advertising space is available in the newsletter for a nominal fee (all proceeds will benefit the F.O.P. Lodge 1 Auxiliary). Members, please ensure that you keep an updated e-mail address on file. Lodge 1, yet in order for these events and committees to be successful, we need volunteers to help make them happen. All members are encouraged to step up and help us help our officers and officers families. Even a few minutes of your time will be appreciated. Officer Profile MPD Officer Brian Eagle Officer Brian Eagle can be found working the midnight tour in the Sixth District. When he isn t patrolling the Southeast side of the city, Officer Eagle can be found cooking a gourmet meal, which undoubtedly will include bacon, visiting family in his home state of New York, watching his beloved Raiders on TV, or talking smack on FaceBook. Officer Eagle began his career in law enforcement in 1990 working as a public safety officer and corrections officer until 2000 when he joined the Metropolitan Police Department and graduated from the class of 2000-4. Officer Eagle told us: The best time in my career was the eight years that I worked in the WAVE (Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement) unit catching car thieves. A Message From Auxiliary President Bonnie Cannon January 2015 marked the two-year anniversary of the reinstatement of the DC Auxiliary and we have continued to grow since then. We have done great things in these past two years and now that we are continuing to grow and get even more committed members we are able to do more doing more wonderful things for law enforcement families. I am so proud to see the family aspect of the Auxiliary take off again. We (continued)
President s Message, continued hope you can see can see from our new Newsletter and future ones that we are becoming a great force in the Washington, DC area, and hope you will continue to want to be a part of it, and include your family members. Update on K9 Officer Abe Lazarus As many of you know, MPD K9 Officer Abe Lazarus, his wife, two adult daughters, and five-year-old granddaughter lost their home, two family dogs, and a vehicle to a house fire in the early morning hours of February 4 th. People from as far away as Georgia and New York state have offered furniture, household items, and monetary donations to the family. A GoFundMe account was created for monetary donations and to date a total of $38,640.00 has been raised, not including monetary donations and gift cards collected by officers throughout the DMV. REMINDER Abe and his family have recently moved into a rental home and have started the slow process of rebuilding their lives and their home. If you know of a law enforcement family that has suffered a tragedy or needs a helping hand and would like to see their story published in the Inquisitor, please contact Heather Gallagher at hgallagher@dc-fop.org. If you have not paid your 2015 membership dues, they are now past due. Please submit your dues now in order to remain in active membership status. Thank you. Congratulations to FOP Auxiliary Member PATRICK MASON, who sang the National Anthem at the Washington Capitals game on February 25 th. The hockey game was televised nationally and Patrick s performance was incredible. Well done, Patrick!
