Officer Eagle began his career in law enforcement in 1990 working as a public safety officer and corrections officer until 2000 when he joined the Metropolitan Police Department and graduated from the class of 2000-4. Officer Eagle told us: The best time in my career was the eight years that I worked in the WAVE (Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement) unit catching car thieves. Each edition of The Inquisitor will highlight an officer in good standing order with F.O.P. Lodge 1. Would you like to see YOUR favorite officer in a future newsletter? Send an e-mail to Heather Gallagher at hgallagher@dc-fop.org. President s Message, continued hope you can see can see from our new Newsletter and future ones that we are becoming a great force in the Washington, DC area, and hope you will continue to want to be a part of it, and include your family members. Update on K9 Officer Abe Lazarus As many of you know, MPD K9 Officer Abe Lazarus, his wife, two adult daughters, and five-year-old granddaughter lost their home, two family dogs, and a vehicle to a house fire in the early morning hours of February 4 th. People from as far away as Georgia and New York state have offered furniture, household items, and monetary donations to the family. A GoFundMe account was created for monetary donations and to date a total of $38,640.00 has been raised, not including monetary donations and gift cards collected by officers throughout the DMV. If you would like to contribute, please log on to www.gofundme.com/li2w28. REMINDER Abe and his family have recently moved into a rental home and have started the slow process of rebuilding their lives and their home. If you know of a law enforcement family that has suffered a tragedy or needs a helping hand and would like to see their story published in the Inquisitor, please contact Heather Gallagher at hgallagher@dc-fop.org. If you have not paid your 2015 membership dues, they are now past due. Please submit your dues now in order to remain in active membership status. Thank you.
