We had our inaugural event in 2014 and received the 2016 Community Event of the Year Award on Australia Day 2016, presented to us by the Northern Grampians Shire Council. The Festival relies heavily on the kind and caring support of the community as well as the hardworking band of volunteers, with many of them donating knitted goods and many hours of time to help with the setting up of this massive community event. The top 10 best selling items at the 2016 Festival were beanies, scarves, toys, handspun wool, garments, socks, mittens, rugs, cowls. Funds raise will be shared between Eventide Homes Aged Care and Stawell Neighbourhood House. If you would like to volunteer your time for the festival, contact Cherelle Nicholson on 5358 2992 or email her at chernic16@gmail.com If you need some inspiration for your woolly creations, particularly beanies, have a look at the Alice Springs Beanie Festival web page https://www.beaniefest.org/ Or, if you are just starting out with beanie making have a look at this Craftsy blog which has some great tips and free patterns for the beginner hat knitter https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2016/02/h at-knitting/ Or, if you really want to immerse yourself in one big woolly community join the Ravelry mob at http://www.ravelry.com/ 2
