Welcome to Glasgow s GRANDweek 10 GRAND (Getting Real About Alcohol N Drugs) week is an annual event to promote community responses to alcohol and drug issues. GRANDweek 10 takes place from 11th to 18th September and brings together a broad range of partners to: Raise awareness and increase knowledge of alcohol and drugs issues and services. Get communities involved in tackling alcohol and drugs. Build partnerships and networks between communities, services and organisations. This programme highlights events and activities that have been developed by community forums and organisations and supported via Communities Sub-group GRAND funding. You are encouraged to attend the events in this programe to find out how your local community is working to tackle alcohol and drug issues. West Connects Health Festival Wednesday 15th September, 12.00 noon - 7.00pm Scotstoun Stadium, part of Scotstoun Leisure Centre, Danes Drive, Glasgow, G14. The Health Festival is the West area event for GRAND, and will include health information stalls, fun activities, workshops, professional sports teams, healthy eating, live entertainment, massage/relaxation, art exhibitions, dance, football tournaments, and much more. Local Primary School children, young people, service users, families and local community groups Invite only from 12.00 to 3.00pm. Open to West Glagow CHCP communities between 3.00pm and 7.00pm. Journey of Recoveries Weekly workshops from mid July until September Addaction, The Open Gate, 44 Hecla Square, Drumchapel, G15 8NH. Annexe GRAND Health Day Friday 17th September, 11.00am - 4.30pm The Annexe Healthy Living Centre, 9a Stewartville Street, Glasgow, G11 5PE. A community artist will work with Addaction service users over 6 workshops to develop a banner visually demonstrating how addiction and recovery affects people at all stages of life. The banner will be presented at the West Connects: Health Festival West GRAND area event on 15th September at the Scotstoun Stadium. Addaction service users over 18 years. Glass A Drugs Art workshops - August to September Artwork(s) available for display in West CHCP venues after GRAND week Callander Street practice. Woodside Health Centre. Service users will be invited to participate in a range of art workshops to explore their journey/journeys of recovery. Their experiences will be captured in a stained glass window. The window will be showcased at the West Connects Health Festival on Wednesday 15th September. DVD screening Wed 15th Sept Various locations A DVD production which challenges the stigma surrounding substance misuse and demonstrates that service users can recover through participating in a range of activities which support social inclusion and integration and promote equality of opportunity. Activities include outdoor pursuits, arts and crafts, cooking classes, therapies, football, and college classes. The film will be showcased at the GRAND area event at Scotstoun on Wednesday 15th Sept. Drama workshops and show Workshops 13th & 14th September, 10.00am - 3.00pm Hillhead Library, 348 Byres Road, Glasgow, G12 8AP. Show 15th September, 12.00noon - 7.00pm West Connects health festival, Scotstoun Stadium Two drama workshops based on drug and alcohol issues will be held prior to performance at the West Connects Health Festival on 15th September. These workshops will explore the impact of drug and alcohol on the young people, how they feel about peer pressure, societal imagery, substance use and the impact on friends and family. GRANDweek 10 Partners GRANDweek 10 is the fourth annual event dedicated to promoting community responses to alcohol and drug issues. GRANDweek is organised and co-ordinated by the Communities Sub-group and partners, and this year s event promises to be the biggest and best yet. GRANDweek 10 has been funded by the Glasgow City Alcohol and Drugs Partnership with significant in-kind contributions from local forums, community groups and organisations. grand Get Involved!
