1 June 2017 OPRG Newsletter Inside this issue: News 1 News and Events 2 Events and Activities 3-4 Events and Useful Contacts 5 Dear OPRG Member, Welcome to the June 17 issue of our Newham OPRG Newsletter. Save the dates: OPRG Meetings: Thursday 6th July 2017 from 13.30am 15.30pm, Stratford Library, Hopkins Room Newham OPRG We are very pleased to be able to invite The Head Teacher and pupils from Essex Primary school to our forthcoming OPRG meeting on 6th July. Essex Primary School has hosted Adopt a Neighbour event which our Elected Rep Eutal Spence took part in. This will be great opportunity to teach young children about what we do at Newham OPRG and how active our members are. Members will get the opportunity to share their own stories of being a student at school. If you wish to bring a school picture along with you to share with the students this would be great! Also we will have speakers from the organisation Voiceability come and give information about their services. This meeting will follow a small break for summer before OPRG meetings resume again on 7th Sept 17 at our usual time and venue. TO ALL MEMBERS: HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Thursday 7th September 2017 from 13.30am 15.30pm; Venue: TBC ke to thank our clients, staff, volunteers and funders who have helped us achieve this. 1
2 News and Events United We Stand United we grieve and united we shall stand This pain is felt by every human on this land The loss of a loved one is a universal pain It isn t differentiated by gender, religion or race The loss of young lives in concert halls, blooded on the streets of war zones or washed up on our shores Is a universal loss, a heartbreak felt by every parent here and abroad So before you ask me to explain the actions of one Why do you think he represents me? Is it because we share the same religion or race? Then I ask you to explain the actions of those Who have spread terror and hate on the land that we know Detonating nail bombs or taking the innocent life of a peace loving MP Who only wanted to show that there is more that unites us then divides you and me But yet no race or religion is held and slated For the actions of one who is also filled with hatred Hate has no purpose but to divide and instil fear But I have faith we will all rise above and make it disappear I am a Muslim and Islam is my life Its fundamentals; to spread peace on this land by getting to know every human tribe Its teaching is to feel the pain when another is hurting, So I tell you I am united in grief For I am also a fellow Brit.
