Transforming mothers FACING INCARCERATION INTO PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS. I have my own place, my own car, and my children are back with me full time. This has been a life changing experience and I wouldn t change it for the world; it made me who I am today. Thank you ReMerge! - Sarah

WHO WE ARE MISSION ReMerge is a comprehensive evidence-based female diversion program designed to transform pregnant women and mothers facing incarceration into productive citizens. VISION Women with children facing non-violent crimes are given an opportunity for treatment and rehabilitation, providing an alternative to incarceration in Oklahoma County. HISTORY In August 2010, the Inasmuch Foundation and United Way of Central Oklahoma gathered a small group of thoughtful committed citizens to address the rate at which we incarcerate women in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma County Collaborative included members of over 25 nonprofits, community funders, and government agencies. A year later ReMerge was born. VALUES When alternatives to incarceration are offered that include evidence-based treatment and removal of barriers, mothers can become productive citizens, capable of caring for themselves and their children and leading a crime free future, thus breaking the intergenerational cycle of incarceration and poverty. The community leaders recognized the opportunity to break the cycle of intergenerational incarceration and poverty. Today I stand before you whole, grateful, joyous and free. I will continue to fight using all of the tools I ve learned on my journey. Thank you for my chance, for my daughter, for my life. - Sharee 4

WHAT WE DO A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH Rather than be sent to prison, mothers remain in the community with their children while receiving comprehensive, wraparound services to treat the root causes of addiction, substance abuse, and mental health. In addition, mothers are encouraged to enroll their children in quality, early childhood educational settings and play an active role in their child s education. Both mother and children receive services to strengthen the family bond and break the cycle of incarceration and poverty. THE PROGRAM Four phases, lasting 18-24 months, designed to move mothers through the program toward selfsufficiency, stability, and recovery. After successfully completing the program, participants graduate and have the opportunity to have their felony charges dismissed. 1. Assessment & Stabilization 2. Treatment & Education 3. Demonstrate Recovery Skills & Leadership 4. Independence & Self-Sufficiency After successfully completing the program, participants graduate and are eligible for the opportunity to have their felony charges dismissed. COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES Each mother has a support team including a Therapist, Care Coordinator and Recovery Support Specialist to develop an individualized plan of care. New Facility JOURNEY HOME FOR REMERGE Creating a space that facilitates and enhances the ReMerge mission and purpose is the ultimate goal. This new environment will support the functions of staff and partner organizations while comforting and inspiring ReMerge moms and their children. ReMerge will share a beautifully landscaped courtyard with Positive Tomorrows, one of its key partners. The new facility will allow ReMerge to serve twenty-five additional mothers and families with increased space to work with community partners. 11

FLOOR PLAN ReMerge s new facility will have 19,329 square feet of space, designed specifically to meet the needs of its participants. It will include a kitchen, dining area, health and fitness space, and a recovery work area. The facility will also include a family visitation room, group rooms with flexible seating, and dedicated space for education and job training. Outside areas will offer inspired sitting areas for small group meetings and family time. 12 13

FRONT ENTRANCE A welcoming, safe, and beautiful home for ReMerge mothers, children, staff, and community partners. SOCIAL SPACE A warm, comfortable, safe area for ReMerge mothers and staff to gather, work, and develop long-term positive relationships. 14 15

RECOVERY WORK SPACE A collaborative, focused area for ReMerge mothers and staff to strengthen recovery skills and work toward self-sufficiency. DINING ReMerge mothers prepare healthy meals every day. This space provides a place to gather, socialize, and strengthen positive relationships. 16 17

18 KITCHEN An efficient, educational space to gain new habits for healthy eating and food preparation, and learn skills for a well balanced lifestyle for mothers and their children. FITNESS The health and wellness space encourages physical activity and exercise. Research shows a strong correlation between long-term recovery and physical fitness. 19

My child didn t deserve to live a life that would hurt him because of my actions, so I made the choice to change. In ReMerge, I became willing and doors started opening for us. Today I have a full time job and I own my car and pay all my bills. I fought so hard to be where I am today. - Dominique BE A PART OF OUR JOURNEY WE NEED YOUR HELP TO REACH OUR GOAL!
