A LETTER TO THE SPONSOR Dear Prospective Sponsor, Catalyst Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1999 to improve lives and build communities. Each year, we carefully organize the Vietnam Culture Camp with the goal of developing greater cultural awareness through a variety of workshops and activities. The camp welcomes families predominately from across the US and Canada. Accomplishing several goals of creating a crucial support network for our families, Catalyst Foundation s Vietnam Culture Camp also strives to ensure that the children in our community are proud of their identity and heritage. During the Culture Camp, there are adult, teen, and children s workshops emphasizing history, identity, cultural differences and similarities. Each year, we search out new and distinguished speakers in their fields of expertise to hold discussions and explore issues facing adoptive families and the communities they live in. Children in elementary school participate in activities that provide a unique opportunity to learn about the Vietnamese language, customs, art, stories, and music that are inherently part of their family s life. Our Youth Leadership Program is for all middle school and high school students. It is a series of youth-centered programs and activities focused on challenging discussions and exchanges about culture, identity, and empathy. Our goal is to empower young students to learn valuable leadership skills to be the catalyst for positive change in their own communities. One of the greatest assets of the camp is the opportunity for the children and their families to interact everyday with our counselors, the majority being Vietnamese-Americans. The Culture Camp counselors are composed of college students and young professionals who are emerging young leaders within their community and throughout the United States. They are committed to the children and are positive role models; friendships and mentorships are also developed and promoted. We continue to build on past Culture Camps and shape our programming to what is current and critically affecting families, Vietnamese adoptees, and Vietnamese-Americans. It is important for us to continually develop relationships with various cultural organizations and professionals in the country who provide ongoing support for adoptive families and children. Catalyst Foundation cordially invites you to be a part of this important community event that fosters the building of communities by inspiring connections and celebrating the Vietnamese culture. By supporting the Catalyst Foundation Vietnam Culture Camp, you will have the unique opportunity to connect with our expansive network and community. We have designed our sponsorship package to offer you tons of benefits and greater visibility for your business. Our sponsorship levels are outlined in the enclosed pages. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, 11918 SE Division St. #1022, Portland, OR 97266 p: 507-213-8448 f: 866-623-1464

FROM OUR FAMILIES Culture Camp has enriched us beyond measure and we arrange our summer plans around it every year. The feeling of belonging, making connections, learning things that we never would be exposed to, having a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture, and being a part of this community has been life changing and we are beyond grateful! The Vietnam Culture Camp continues to promote his pride in his heritage.gives him a safe place to talk about adoption, race, prejudice. Role models (counselors and older kids) aid his development. He really feels that Catalyst is his extended family. We are always amazed at how wonderful and rich it is, every year! Culture Camp has had a big influence on my son s life. Even if he doesn t always express it, I think he s developed a sense of being proud to be Vietnamese. By seeing families and kids whose stories are similar to his, he s developed a sense that it s ok to be adopted. As a family, we talk about adoption, and the fact that it stinks that he will probably never know his birth family, but, I think he has some sense of not feeling like he s the only one when he s met other kids with similar stories. That doesn t always make his life easier, but I think camp has had a positive influence on his life. Culture Camp is a blessing and, again, a positive influence. Culture Camp has enriched our family, really I can't imagine how we'd be without it. The wonderful connections with friends, the commonality, learning in much more depth about issues facing our kids, seeing much more deeply into issues of racism and its subtleties, etc. As well as looking forward to this every year! Thank you for another fantastic weekend - loved the speakers, activities and most of all my daughter had a blast! I think it is the one place in the world where she feels the most comfortable! She told me yesterday that she was very outgoing at camp, loved her counselors and they loved her. Thank you for creating an environment where our kids can be all that they can be! The Vietnam Culture Camp has provided a sense of fun, family, belonging, anticipation, friendship. It makes adoption and inter-racial families seem so much more "normal" and it provides a jumping off point for future discussion and questions. Culture Camp isn't just about culture, but the incredibly 11918 SE Division St. #1022, Portland, OR 97266 p: 507-213-8448 f: 866-623-1464
