Hopefully the white Christmas didn t spoil any plans. Snow is pretty but it belongs in the mountains! Looks like our calendar sales were very successful again. Thanks to all who participated in this fund raiser. Be sure to turn in any money you still have at our meetings on January 8 and 10. We have scheduled a vision and hearing screening training session for Saturday, January 13 from 9 to noon in the hobby room at Harbor Place. Many of you have already let me know you can attend. It s not too late to let me or Sharon know you are coming. This training will enable us to offer this service to local elementary schools. As we look ahead to the next six months of the LION S year there is not much on the calendar. We need to think about other ways we can SERVE our community. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Speakers are scheduled for our January meetings. Let me know if you have any ideas or can provide a program. We will not be helping FISH food bank in January. The next collection will be February 3. As always be thinking of someone you can invite to join us as WE SERVE our community.

Around the end of January we will bring in all the plastic boxes and free-standing signs at retail outlets. Leave the calendars if they will allow. Bring collected money to the next meetings. From Membership Chair, Sue Schmidt: Do you have an elevator speech ready? We've all been asked by someone 'What do the Lions do?'. Here's a standard reply, but you should make up one to suit your own idea of what we do: Our Lions Club is a service group of men and women interested in improving their community. One of our projects is the Finholm View Climb. We also support the schools by handing out Student Dictionaries to all the 3rd graders, and offer scholarships to deserving seniors. We also participate in Global concerns through Lions International, such as eliminating measles worldwide. We meet at Harbor Place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. If you would like to come on the I'll introduce you and you can see more of what we do. Would you like me to pick you up? Practice on your spouse or best friend, they might surprise you and join us in lionism! Earn a Commemorative Centennial Coin!! The top five Lions who recruit new members in District C will receive a commemorative coin at the annual convention. The new members must be entered into MyLCI by April 15, 2018.
