March 2016 PROPWASH A Newsletter of EAA Chapter 517, Inc.
PROPWASH March 2016 From the chapter president Well, with official spring only a month or so away, we are getting to enjoy spring type weather early this year (what an optimist). Talking with members, we as a group are getting a bit of flying in while we experience this great weather. Keep in mind, this is Montana, so we may just have the opportunity to suffer a bit more winter. We have another mid Winter Chili Feed in the books. Everyone in attendance Steve Rossiter had a good time, more later. Prior to enjoying chili, your Board of Directors met to discuss the state of the chapter. The MSO hangar project is progressing as we search for the best course of action to get it built without busting the budget. We are getting close. The board is also looking at additional income sources to help assure our continued financial health. A little more research is necessary before we jump into it. We have transitioned our new treasurer into his job and straightened out banking issues associated with this transition. Heads up, I will be in touch with some of you to participate in some new committees to further the goals and health of the chapter. I hope you will make yourselves available when I ask for help. We are getting requests for Young Eagles events for the coming flying season and I thank those of you who have been supporting Ray Aten and the Young Eagle program. That s about it for now, when you fly be safe and keep the dirty side down. Until next month, Steve Page 2 Notice 2016 EAA 517 Chapter dues now being accepted by Chapter Treasurer $20 Individual $30 Family Make check payable to: EAA Chapter 517, Inc. To be eligible, a member must have his/her EAA National membership dues paid current and EAA Chapter 517 membership dues paid current. PROPWASH March 2016 2016 Mid-Winter Chili Feed By Steve Rossiter On a not so cold February night in 2016, members of EAA Chapter 517 gathered for the Annual Mid-Winter Chili Feed. Help arrived early to assist with set up and before the 1800 hour scheduled starting time, tables, chairs and chili were ready to go. The food was there, many people were there so why not start early. That s exactly what we did. So for those of you who waited until the scheduled starting time, let this be a lesson to you; early is better than late. We had eight wonderful chili offerings this year and not quite enough people to make sure it all disappeared. I think most everyone took chili home. Let that also be a lesson for those of you who didn t attend, you are needed to help consume. I want to thank Mary Ellen and Gary Weyermann for their two pots of chill, Terry Phillips for his chili dip, Burt Caldwell, Judy and Gary Matson, Roberta and Alan Burrruss, and Sherry Rossiter for their offerings. Oh yes, I provided number eight, my soon to be famous or maybe infamous three meat Moose Drool chili. As always, members seemed to Photo by Gary Weyermann have a good time and stayed around to visit even after all the eating was done. Thanks again to all who attended and all who provided. I m already looking forward to next year. Page 3 Used by permission
