During this presentation, Ms. Wright will discuss the differences in pharmacokinetics in the older adult vs. the younger adult and review tips for safe prescribing in the older adult. Using Objective Measures of Lung Function to Assess Asthma and Improve Inhalation Technique Ben Francisco, PhD, PNP, AE-C and Tammy Rood, DNP Use of objective measures of lung function improves accuracy in the determination of asthma severity and control status. Asthma guidelines recommend full spirometry every 1 to 2 years, which may not be available in all practice settings. However, a digital flow meter can be used to document assessment of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) in patients with asthma ages 5 years and older at every encounter. Knowledge of FEV1 is useful to optimize and individualize inhalation instructions (CPT code 94664).
