REDUCING BRD TREATMENT RATES WILL HELP IMPROVE YOUR BOTTOM LINE Several stocker studies have indicated that including MULTIMIN 90 in the normal processing protocol in high stress cattle may: Reduce incidence of BRD Improve performance (ADG and Gain : Feed) Reduce antibiotic use STUDIES WITH MULTIMIN IN STOCKER CATTLE: Item Oklahoma State University Study 1 University of Arkansas Study 2 Type of Cattle Sale Barn Sale Barn Weight 317 ± 22 lbs & 371 ± 29.04 lbs 438 ± 14 lbs Sex Bulls Heifers Dose of MultiMin 3 ml 4.5 ml Health Data Control MultiMin Control MultiMin % Morbidity 71% 63% 87.1% a 54.8% b % Cattle Rx Twice 15.5% 8.6% 51.6% a 19.4% b % Cattle Rx 3 Times 4.2% 1.4% 32.3% a 9.7% b Performance Data Control D 0-42 MultiMin Control D 0-55 MultiMin Average Daily Gain lbs 1.92 2.09 2 b 2.38 a Gain : Feed 0.23 0.26 0.17 b 0.19 a Final Weight lbs 547.6 b 568.5 a 1 Berry B.A., et al. Efficacy of MultiMin in improving performance and health in receiving cattle. 2 Richeson J.T., Kegley E.B. Effect of supplemental trace minerals from injection on health and performance of highly stressed, newly received beef heifers. ab Least squares means within a row without a common superscript differ (P<0.05) according to t-test. MULTIMIN is right there at the treatment chute every time we process incoming cattle. We give MULTIMIN to all of our high risk cattle that come in with little or no backgrounding. Another shot of MULTIMIN is given to cattle at revaccination. All cattle that are pulled for the sickpen get MULTIMIN especially those that have respiratory conditions like BRD and pneumonia. If we don t give them MULTIMIN, we see a 10% to 20% drop in response and more retreats. Our MULTIMIN cattle are healthier. It s a fact that healthy cattle eat better and gain more. Every time I don t use MULTIMIN I lose money. PERRY OWENS, MANAGER, OTTAWA COUNTY FEEDERS, INC. MINNEAPOLIS, KS

TRACE MINERALS DURING THE FINISHING PHASE MAY DETERMINE YOUR BOTTOM LINE IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY STOCKER / FEEDER PROTOCOL 88 DAY STOCKER PHASE No supplementation (DEF) -Added Fe and Mo dietary antagonists Cattle supplemented with NRC minerals (CON) - Cu (10mg/kg), Mn (20mg/kg), Se (0.1mg/kg), Zn (30mg/kg) 20 HOURS OF TRANSPORT 90 DAY FINISHING PHASE *All cattle supplemented with Cu, Mn, Se and Zn at NRC recommended concentrations during finishing phase. 1/2 injected with MULTIMIN 90 (DEF+MM) 1/2 injected with saline (DEF+SAL) 1/2 injected with saline (CON+SAL) 1/2 injected with MULTIMIN 90 (CON+MM) 62.21 lbs BODY WEIGHT DURING STOCKER PHASE: SHIPPING PERIOD BODY WEIGHT DURING FINISHING PHASE: NO DIFFERENCE IN ADG IN NON-STRESSED, NON-HEALTH CHALLENGED CATTLE NON-SUPPLEMENTED GROUP (DEF) SHRINKS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE (P=0.06) 10.71 lbs Regardless of previous diet, STEERS INJECTED WITH MULTIMIN WERE AN AVERAGE OF 25 LBS HEAVIER (P=0.02) than steers that received saline. & DEF + SAL STEERS WEIGHED 43 LBS LESS THAN DEF + MM STEERS DURING THIS 90 DAY PERIOD. (P<0.01) THE STOCKER PHASE OF THE STUDY ALSO INDICATED THAT: Steers receiving a TRACE MINERAL DEFICIENT diet prior to finishing had SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER MARBLING SCORES. This negative effect on the marbling score could not be recovered during the finishing phase of the study even when the steers were supplemented with trace minerals. This finding suggests that TRACE MINERALS are important in the development of intramuscular fat. THE FINISHING PHASE OF STUDY INDICATED THAT: A trace mineral deficient diet prior to the finishing phase negatively impacts performance of cattle during the finishing period. But treatment with MULTIMIN 90 can alleviate these negative effects so that steers with trace mineral deficiencies perform as well as steers with adequate trace mineral status.

COMBINING MULTIMIN 90 WITH A MODIFIED LIVE VACCINE AT PROCESSING Did you know that modified live vaccines negatively affect the trace mineral status of recently vaccinated animals? This is due to different trace minerals playing an active role in different pathways of the acquired immune response. This may be critical for disease prevention in feedlot and stocker animals. COPPER ZINC SELENIUM MANGANESE Study data indicated that MULTIMIN treatment at the same time as vaccination maintains/improves the animal s trace mineral status. This may be critical in driving the immune response for better health and also for improved growth in beef producing cattle. Researchers at University of Florida have also reported that the concurrent application of MULTIMIN and modified live vaccines increased the production of neutralizing antibody titers against IBR (Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis)/ Rednose virus significantly in beef steers as early as 14 days after vaccination, maintaining this difference for at least 60 days. USE ONLY IN CATTLE KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN (AN INJECTABLE CHELATED SUPPLEMENTAL SOURCE OF ZINC, MANGANESE, SELENIUM AND COPPER) CAUTION: Federal Law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
