70 Quenby Street Manchester M15 4HW 0161 2621622 info@justpsychology.co.uk Dr Leroy McFarlane Title/Professional Post: Clinical and Telephone: 0161 2621622 Email address: info@justpsychology.co.uk PERSONAL PROFILE & RELEVANT EXPERIENCE I am a dual-qualified, Health Professions Council registered clinical and forensic psychologist who has worked as a psychology professional since 1999. I have produced over 90 reports for Family and Criminal Courts, Local Authorities, Immigration Tribunals and Parole Boards. I have also appeared in Criminal and Family Courts and Parole Boards as an expert witness. I have a wide range of expertise (see page 2). I am presently employed by Walsall CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service). My job involves assessment for various mental health and developmental disorders including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, ADHD and autism in the community for young people aged between 3 to 16. I also currently provide mental health interventions and consultancy and within Walsall Youth Offending Service for clients aged between 10 to 19. My previous post was an inpatient Forensic CAMHS unit in Birmingham called Ardenleigh. There the young people have very complex mental health diagnoses, such as Psychosis, Bipolar Disorder, childhood trauma, severe anxiety, and severe depression. They also have a violent and/or sexual criminal history. In my previous posts I undertook psychological assessments and interventions with adult male and female patients in a high-secure hospital. In another post I worked with two teams in the NHS; in community mental health and prison mental health services with adolescents. I have also worked for a child protection charity that specialised in assessment, management and treatment of adult sex offenders. I was also employed by HM Prison Service undertaking psychological assessments and delivering individual and group-work CBT programmes in both Category B and C institutions; I was the manager of the psychology department in the higher category establishment. In my roles I have provided consultation to Social Workers, NHS, Youth Offending Service, Prison Service and MAPPA.
I have many years of experience of working with young people and adults from a wide range of cultures. This started as a forensic psychologist working in a Category B prison in the Midlands, where I worked collaboratively with Black, Asian, Mixed-race and White offenders to reduce their re-offending. I have also conducted risk assessments with regards to Immigration cases. I continued my work with children and young people at HMYOI Werrington, Ardenleigh Medium Secure Unit and at Walsall CAMHS, where my work focused on improving their mental health. From a diversity perspective, I have worked with children from Caribbean, African, Eastern European and Asian backgrounds. Where necessary I have used interpreters. Furthermore, due to my grounding in gangs on my Criminology course and clinical work at HMYOI Werrington I have been involved in a number of assessments and consulted on cases with male and female children and young people who had been at risk of gang violence and exploitation and County Lines issues.
