Area of Expertise: I am a member of the Uro-Oncology section of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, and I was a Lead Consultant in urological cancer in the North London Cancer Network. I have extensive experience in renal, prostate and bladder cancer surgery both, before and since appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital in 1987 and also at the Regional Cancer Centre at University College Hospital. I am completely conversant with the medical and endoscopic techniques for the treatment of prostate disease, including Green Light Vaporisation of the prostate. I perform most scrotal-genital surgery as a day case (circumcision, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal, epididymal cysts, varicoceles, and testicle removal). In 1988, I created a prostate unit, adopting a one-stop clinic approach, at the Royal Free Hospital and Medical School in London. Subsequently, I created the same at the Wellington Hospital, aiming to provide the most up-to-date and advanced approaches to diagnosis and assessment of prostate diseases, including inflammation, benign and malignant cases. I introduced Brachytherapy treatment for localised prostate cancer in both hospitals in 1999. Later, I introduced and practised total high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy for selected cancer prostate patients in both hospitals following specialised training at the EDAP Unit in Lyon, France. Prostate biopsy ultrasound guided techniques offered both trans-rectal or trans-perineal approaches as necessary and MRI fusion targeted biopsy technique. Also, in cases where Radiotherapy is the appropriate modality for a patient, I placed prostate markers (Gold fucidials) under transrectal ultrasound control. I participated in the initial clinical trials in placing prostate spacers to investigate the possible reduction of radiotherapy lower gastrointestinal tract adverse effects. In updating my expertise and continuation of medical education, I trained in laparoscopy and robotics but do not practice either. Additionally, I have frequently acted as an assistant to colleagues who feel they can benefit from my extensive experience in open surgery techniques. I have more than 30 years experience dealing with major surgical complications following gynaecological surgery (perforated bladder, fistulae, ureteric damage). I was the lead clinician in this respect serving a very busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit at the Royal Free NHS Trust and also at the Wellington Hospital. - 5 -

I no longer work within the National Health Service, having retired from the Royal Free Hospital NHS Trust in November 2010. I continued to provide a more personalised service in the private hospital where I worked until August 2015. I continue to maintain my close academic links with university departments for teaching and research. I completed regular annual appraisals since 2008 and continued to do so. I am also an approved appraiser by the Federation of Independent Practitioner Organisations (FIPO). Teaching activity I was a teacher to undergraduate medical students of the joint RFH and UCH medical school and participate in post-graduate teaching seminars for local and national general practitioners. Several attachments to post graduate Urology trainees were made where I offered Oncological urological training to postgraduate candidates from abroad including Moscow, Republic of China, Greece and Egypt. Candidates returned home to Faculty and Specialised Oncological Units positions. I was awarded visiting Professorship to Downstate Medical Centre, the State University of New York in 1984. I was an invited Attending Professor to the Urological Association of the Republic of China in 1995. I was an invited lecturer in Urological Oncology by the European School of Oncology. Summary of Research Activities Research trials program (A full detailed list is available on request): Prostate cancer I carried out much of national and international studies about LH-RH agonist studies (Goserelin) evolution and clinical evaluation as a principal and participating clinical researcher. I also assessed all the new forms of LH-RH agonist and antagonist formulations. I played a prominent role in the early prostate cancer international program and place of Bicalutamide pure anti-androgen. I collaborated with Dr Anna C Ferrari, Consultant Oncologist, NY, as an approved FDA investigator (14/4/2005 31/01/2006) for assessment of efficacy and safety of Leuprolide acetate 3.75mg depot formulation (Study CRO-04-62). Bladder cancer I organised and popularised the role of BCG intravesical therapy in the UK - 6 -

in 1976 guiding therapy initiation, assessing various protocols for maintenance and collaborating with relevant bodies. General Urology I introduced microwave therapy in the management of benign prostate enlargement and prostatitis; Participated in a large cohort of antibiotics studies evaluating their role in the management of prostate Inflammation. Ensured keeping up-to-date with clinical urology applications and ensured their introduction Publications List: More than 180 articles including reviews. List available on request.
