WE USE THE ARTS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA ARTAID IS A NON PROFIT, NON RELIGIOUS AND NON POLITICAL ORGANIZATION

WHY WE STARTED WHILE IN HIS ROLL AS FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER AT NET-A-PORTER, AND WORKING ON A COLLABORATION WITH VICTORIA BECKHAM, AIDAN O NEILL WAS INTRODUCED TO THE STAGGERING HIV INFECTION RATES IN CHILDREN IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA. MOVED BY THE FIGURES HE OFFERED HIS SERVICES TO AN ORGANISATION WORKING TO PREVENT THE TRANSMISSION OF HIV FROM MOTHERS TO THEIR CHILDREN. THIS FOUND HIM ON A WHISTLE STOP TOUR OF SWAZILAND AND SOUTH AFRICA, VISITING SITES WHERE LIFE SAVING DRUGS AND ADVICE WERE BEING ADMINISTERED. AIDAN SAYS HE WAS INSPIRED TO SET UP HIS OWN ORGANISATION DURING THIS TRIP WHEN HE MET A FOUR-YEAR OLD GIRL WHO HAD JUST TESTED HIV POSITIVE. "THE SORROW WAS OVERWHELMING - AND THE FACT THAT THIS IS HAPPENING, EVERY DAY, IN VILLAGES AND TOWNSHIPS THROUGHOUT SUB- SAHARAN AFRICA WAS UNFATHOMABLE, ON HIS RETURN FROM THIS TRIP, AIDAN SOLD ALL HIS PROCESSIONS TO SET UP ARTAID.WORLD AND MOVE TO SWAZILAND SO HE COULD SEE FIRST HAND WHERE HE COULD HELP.

OUR GOAL - AN AIDS FREE GENERATION

WHAT WE DO WE CREATE BODIES OF WORK THAT RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS WE DIRECTLY SUPPORT ORGANISATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS. WE OFFER OUR DOCUMENTARY SKILLS FREE OF CHARGE TO ORGANISATIONS SO THAT THEY CAN TELL THEIR STORIES, IN TURN HELPING THEM TO REACH THEIR GOALS.

ARTAID assisted us by providing We are very grateful to ARTAID for their support of our work in Swaziland. The photographs they took for us got to the heart of the work we do, respectfully reflecting the very real challenges facing the people we work with, and portraying their resilience. - Linda Chambers, National Director, Us in Ireland ARTAID has proven to us that they are kind and generous. They have been of real assistance to some of the needs in our community and there are people who are truly blessed because they have met Aidan. - Joy Hank, SOHO mothers2mothers (m2m) has worked with ARTAID.WORLD since its founding in 2015. Founder of the organization, Aidan O Neill, was introduced to m2m through the Victoria Beckham Charity Sale with THE OUTNET, raising funds for mothers2mothers. Since the partnership in August 2014, Aidan has been an incredible advocate for mothers2mothers through his photography, raising awareness of our work in sub-saharan Africa first through documenting the inaugural Cycle to Zero Challenge in Swaziland and South Africa in 2014, raising 100,000. Since then, he has shot a photo series with our Community Mentor Mothers in Swaziland; he has filmed two video assets created for one of our funders DFID in Malawi and captured memorable moments, as well as programmatic ones, of Cycle to Zero Malawi 2016 that has raised 250,000 for m2m. His effortless ability to capture the essence and heart of our programme is simply remarkable. - Annabelle McGregor, European Communications & Partnerships Manager high-quality photos giving a good representation of o u r w o r k. T h e photos were taken with dignity and reflected the integrity of our Mentor Mothers and their clients. At Siphilile we are very grateful to ARTAID for the support and collaboration! - Mats Målqvist, Dircetor of Siphilile Maternal and Child Health, Swaziland ARTAID helped Yellow motivation take some of the amazing photos for our website. We also have projects together in the pipeline! CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED! - Karin Claesson, Founder Yellow Motivation

UNDER THE GLOBAL PLAN, THANKS TO THE COURAGE AND CONVICTION OF MANY PARTNERS, NEW HIV INFECTIONS AMONG CHILDREN WERE REDUCED BY 60 PERCENT IN 21 OF THE HIGHEST BURDEN COUNTRIES IN SUB- SAHARAN AFRICA, AND 6 COUNTRIES CUT NEW INFECTIONS AMONG CHILDREN BY 75 PERCENT OR MORE. OUR WORK FOR CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS, AND YOUNG WOMEN IS FAR FROM DONE, BUT THIS IS A TREMENDOUS ACCOMPLISHMENT. AMBASSADOR DEBORAH L. BIRX
