One you clinics Plymouth residents are being offered the chance to start the fight back to a healthier lifestyle with the launch of One You clinics, being held across the city every day of the week. Delivered by One You Plymouth, the clinics cover NHS health checks, stopping smoking, eating well, moving more and drinking less. One to one appointments can be booked with a specialist advisor offering personalised advice at a variety of locations across the city.
Weight management One You Plymouth offers a free 10 week programme for adults (16+) with a body mass index (BMI) between 26-39, helping them to eat well and lose weight. The Eat Well programme aims to help people develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to manage their weight more effectively. The weekly sessions include group discussion, information and practical demonstrations. eat well
Walks and walk leader training One You Plymouth offers weekly health walks in local parks and Explorer Walks throughout the year. We have trained walk leaders from across the city who assist with these sessions, and we offer a short course - group walk leader training for anyone in a workplace who wants to run lunchtime or after work walks.
Training Understanding Mental health and wellbeing training - This four hour evidence based, interactive and practical course provides participants with a better understanding of their own attitudes and beliefs about mental health and wellbeing, and how it can be protected and improved using the 'Five Winning Ways to Mental Health and Wellbeing'.
Make Every Contact Count Two 3 hour sessions approaching behaviour change that uses the day-to-day interactions that organisations and individuals have with people, supporting delivery of consistent and concise healthy lifestyle information engaging them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Mental health first aid training This intensive, interactive and practical two day course provides an overview of common mental health problems as well as information, tools and techniques to enable people to support someone who may be experiencing mental or emotional distress. We also offer MHFA lite an introductory course that enables participants to gain a wider understanding of some of the issues surrounding mental health
Suicide prevention SafeTALK - A half-day alertness training that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper and gives knowledge of who to refer those in need to for support. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) This two day, research based, interactive and practical course enables participants to develop an understanding of people who have thoughts of suicide, to identify risk and to develop the skills and confidence to deliver effective engagement and communication in order to apply 'suicide first aid'.
Alcohol awareness training IBA This four hour course offers an evidence based approach to helping participants to identify when individuals are drinking at increasing and higher levels, and are not typically seeking help for an alcohol problem. Participants will learn how to identify alcohol users who may benefit from a brief intervention using an AUDIT screening tool, and practice skills and techniques for delivering simple advice and more extensive interventions, it develops the confidence to raise and respond to alcohol issues.
Motivation to change training Enhancing Motivation to Change is a 1 day course that will build individuals' ability to 'promote health seeking behaviour' in others, supporting other Health promotion work. All our training is online and can be booked via eventbrite, there is a cost to some of the courses as we need to cover our costs, some remain free. We can also arrange to deliver to groups in the workplace.
Wellbeing Champion Training Wellbeing Champion training provides the basics of how to positively impact the health and wellbeing of people in a company/organisation/community; how to run simple healthy lifestyle projects; and how to make a difference in people s health and wellbeing. This 6 hour course provides information on these 4 main areas of healthy lifestyle: diet, physical activity, smoking cessation and sensible drinking. Next year the forums will include an Afternoon session aimed at wellbeing Champions.
Charter Changes Public Health England are introducing a new set of standards for a national charter in spring These will replace the current workplace wellbeing charter They will look very similar Work on current charter still valid and will transfer to the new scheme seamlessly We look forward to continued work with you to realise the potential of workplaces as a unique opportunity to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
