Christmas is coming. Santa has decided to come to No8 again this year following the success of last year s event. He will be joined by his merry team of Elves and looks forward to meeting anyone that would like to come along between 11 3 pm on Saturday 7th December. Whilst the event is primarily aimed at giving the Children and Young People we support a stress free visit to Santa in a familiar environment we welcome our supporters, friends and family and hope you will get into the festive spirit whilst helping us to raise funds to support our work. Each child will receive a goodie bag from Santa and there will be arts, crafts and games aswell as access to our new sensory room...and for parents...there is CAKE!. Tickets are 5 first child and 2.50 for siblings. Please call/email to book and guarantee a gift/relieve elf stress on the day! Tel: 020 8647-8600/tracey@suttonmencap.org.uk If you re making a donation, and you're a UK taxpayer, don t forget to Gift Aid it! Gift Aid makes your money work harder, making donations worth 20% more to us!

During the October half term holidays our theme was Emergency Services (how to keep safe at this time of year). We would like to thank the local police and Wallington fire brigade for giving our children a great experience. The children and young people got to dress up as police officers, made a lot of noise with police and fire sirens and were allowed to use the fire brigades hose in the playground. The children and young people also got to ask questions and learn how to keep safe. Attention all units we have a situation at No8...too much fun being had. Over!

Help...we need a Festive Facelift! Some members of our day service kicked off our festive facelift appeal by decorating their adult lounge last month and now we need to raise some funds for new furniture/carpets and to enable us to give some other rooms a bit of TLC. If you belong to a social group or company and would like to get involved and support this appeal over the festive season please let Tracey know. If you would rather don your decorating gear and provide some physical support why not join us for one of our makeover sessions - Wed 18th, Thur 19th or Fri 20th Dec. Personal donations to the appeal can be made by cheque or via www.justgiving.com/suttonmencapfestivefacelift. Thank-you for your support. Need some Christmas Cards? Here s how one parent is helping. My name is Maggie Burke and my son Aaron is a user of many of Sutton Mencap s wonderful services. I am also an Independent Phoenix Trader and would like to donate any funds I raise through sales from the Phoenix Christmas Brochure to Sutton Mencap. You can browse/order through my website or pick up a brochure at Mencap. www.phoenix-trading.eu/web/maggieburke. Please do have a look and help a charity that does so much good work for us parents and carers. Thanking you in advance. Maggie. Carshalton Rotary Xmas Collection (Vols needed) 9th December Another way you could help raise funds for the appeal is by walking with the rotary on Monday 9th December. Carshalton Rotary have kindly invited us to be one of the local charities benefiting from their Christmas Collection this year all we need to do is provide 6 willing walkers to join them on their collection rounds in the local area. If you are free and can help on Monday 9th December from 6.45 pm 9 pm you could help us raise 300 for the appeal. Please call/email Tracey if you can help. Thank-you.

Join our Chairman for a coffee! Our chairman Mavis Peart invites you to her Christmas Coffee Morning...which lasts all day! Friday 6th December 10.30 am 4pm Address: 5 Stanley Square, Carshalton, SM5 4LX. In aid of the Edward Peart Memorial Fund Delicious sweets, cakes and lunches for sale. 1 entrance fee, includes free coffee. Christmas Raffle, Cards & Party! It s Christmas raffle time! The Xmas raffle has always been popular and you could be in with a chance of winning one of our great prizes, including a 50 cash prize, beauty voucher (courtesy of The Front Room, Barnstead), Family Portrait (Courtesy of Barrett & Co, Leatherhead) or a new phone. We have taken the liberty of enclosing a book of raffle tickets (for those that have received this by post) for you to try and sell ( 1 per ticket) and really appreciate your support. Please return any stubs (with payment) or unused books by 15th December latest. The raffle will be drawn on Monday the 16th December. If you would like more books please call the office or ask a member of staff when you are next here. Thank-you Our own good quality Christmas cards are now available from the office, designed by one of our members, Gemma Gray, last year. Packs of 5 cost 2 or 3 packs for 5. Ask a member of staff if interested when you are next at NO8. Huge thanks to the team at Carshalton Social Club for a great Halloween Party and for raising 80 for us on their last holiday trip. Save the date for our Christmas Party on Wednesday 18th December 7.30 10pm

Join us for the Snow Queen... Our drama group Action Replay have been rehearsing for their latest show in which they will be joining forces with the Savvy Young Company to bring you their production of the Snow Queen a tale of friendship, adventure and courage. Book now before tickets sell out. Wednesday 27th November 7.30 pm Tickets on sale now from the Secombe Theatre 6 Tel : 020 8770-6900 Or book online via: www.http://www.suttontheatres.co.uk/ Xmas Presents - do you shop online? If so going through the following site could help us to raise funds and make your shopping count at no extra cost to yourselves. Access your usual shops via this site and you could take advantage of special offers and gain a donation for us. www.easyfundraising.org.uk We have recently set up a Wish List with Amazon as we often get asked what we need by supporters and felt it would be a good idea to ask groups for ideas to help anyone that would like to buy us a specific gift for Xmas or as part of any fundraising they do. All you need to do is go onto the Amazon web site, click on Wish List (top right corner) and then type in Sutton Mencap. We will be adding to this list on an ongoing basis and really appreciate any gifts Santa decides to send us. If Santa brings you any unwanted gifts and you are unable to return them you could consider donating them to us for use in future raffles or for re-sale to raise funds. We are now selling some items on Ebay and Facebook and whilst we don t currently have the resources/storage to take in mass donations of clothes/books etc please contact Tracey if you have anything you think may be of interest or would like to help us by selling goods on our behalf.
