TO: PRESIDENT ROBERT GARLAND & MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ITEM 4 FROM: CHARLES R. JORDAN, M.P.A., P.W.E., PRESIDENT-ELECT DATE: JANUARY 23, 2015 RE: PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT Since October, I have represented the Florida Chapter at the following events: West Coast Branch Holiday Social 2016 Expo Steering Committee Meetings West Coast Branch Meeting Zephyrhills, Florida (January) 2017 PWX Host Committee Meeting January 22, 2016 2016 Expo: The 2016 Expo will be April 18-22, 2016 at the Tampa Convention Center. Registration is now open for all levels. Please make sure to get your folks in now. We have already oversold one of the nights in the hotel due to demand. We now have $26,000 in sponsors, and most of the Expo floor filled. The Off Site Party will be on the Yacht Starship which will be docked at the Convention Center. We will have an hour reception while docked and then two hours on the water. Food, Beverages, and Entertainment will all be included in the Cruise. The Committee will hold the Annual Rodeo in Downtown under the I-275 Overpass about ten blocks from the Convention Center. The hotel is set, and as previously stated, includes a number of amenities in the base price to assist our members in their time there. Our Guest Speaker will be Robert Stevenson, a local speaker who discusses Beyond Excellence. A theme that wraps right into our hopes for the year in APWA. We are including a 5K Fun Run and Walk for anyone who wants to participate and we have some interesting things going on at the event to build our report with our vendors and bring back a lot of fun to the event. Finally the educational program has been selected and it is FANTASTIC. We hope to see all of the Executive Committee members there and we hope you bring a few of your co-workers as well! 2017 PWX: The first full Host Committee meeting took place yesterday, January 22, 2016. I will report verbally on the outcomes as this report was written well ahead of that. Education: I have worked it out with the T2 Center at UF to assist our Chapter in holding a minimum of six web-based trainings in 2016 & 2017 for the entire chapter. The cost per training will be $450 per event, and we will charge roughly $15 per APWA Member to participate, and more for non members (probably $30). We expect to not have to pay any portion of the costs of the trainings after the first one is held. As such, I will be requesting Executive Committee approval to pay for the first event in May 2016 for $450. Attached to my report is the proposed MOU. I will be proposing the following motion: I move that the attached memorandum of understanding with the University of Florida's Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center for providing online webinars for Florida Chapter members be approved. National Board Dinner: In June of 2016 the National Board of Directors will be meeting in Lido Beach, Florida for one of their quarterly face-toface meetings. It is tradition that the host Chapter sponsor a dinner for the Board during that meeting. We will be working with President Usher and national to plan this event out.

2016-2017 Leadership Plan: I have sent letters to my appointments for committee chairs for 2016-2017 and most have responded. If you have received a request and did not respond, please let me know immediately if you approve. Next we will contact potential committee members to put them on the several committees. 2016-2017 Executive Committee Meetings (Subject to Change): July St. Augustine, Florida (Major topics: Chapter Strategic Planning, Financial Review & Investment Policy, Educational Programs) October Lido Beach, Florida (Major topics: 2017 Legislative Priorities, Chapter/Expo Annual Budget, Branch Mentorship Program) January Tallahassee, Florida (Major topics: 2017 Florida Public Works Expo, Scholarship Trust Information, Membership Plan) Respectfully Submitted, Chas Jordan, President-Elect

2100 NE Waldo Road Suite 106 Gainesville, FL 32609 352.392.2371 www.t2ctt.ce.ufl.edu January 19, 2016 Chas Jordan Assistant PW Director / Facilities Manager City of Largo PO Box 296 Largo, FL 33779-0296 RE: Memorandum of Understanding Joint Florida T2 and APWA Webinar Series Dr. Mr. Jordan, As per previous discussions, the Florida Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center would like to partner with the Florida Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) to offer an informational webinar series based on topics aimed at public works employees in the State of Florida. This webinar series will provide much needed continued education opportunities to areas across the State where attending training and technical sessions/meetings is difficult due to geographical or budgetary constraints. With this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the Florida T2 Center proposes the following: 1. The Florida T2 Center will provide technical support for a series of 1 to 2 hour webinars through the use of Adobe Connect Pro webinar software. 2. Each webinar will consist of a dry run approximately 1 week prior to the scheduled event (schedules permitting). T2 will provide presenters and moderators with technical support in conversion of PowerPoint presentations, video, and any other material needed to make the webinar as effective as possible. T2 Center technical staff will also provide training during the dry run session to ensure that presenters and moderators are comfortable with the software and are prepared for giving their presentation on the event day. 3. The T2 Center will host an informational website as well as instructions for registration for each event. The Center will handle communication with registered participants and will advertise events through the T2 Newsletter and website. 4. The T2 Center will charge a fee of $150/hour for services rendered (ex. 2-hour webinar totals $450; 2 hours of event time + 1-hour dry run). A nominal registration fee will be charged to participants and will be determined per event with the understanding that APWA members will receive a discount over participants not affiliated with the APWA Florida Chapter (webinars will be open to anyone wanting to participate). Any remaining balance for services rendered after the registration fees have been collected will be covered by the APWA Florida Chapter. The T2 Center will retain all fees collected for registration. 5. Continuing Education Units (CEUs)/Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided for each event. Hours will be provided for participants who are registered, fully paid, and who attend the event based on the attendance information provided to the T2 Center through the Adobe Connect Pro software. Participants will receive electronic copies of their certificates via the email address on file approximately 10 business days following an event.

2100 NE Waldo Road Suite 106 Gainesville, FL 32609 352.392.2371 www.t2ctt.ce.ufl.edu Participants who have provided their Florida PE License information will have their hours submitted to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE). 6. The Florida APWA Chapter will assist in providing topics and speakers for each event. Topics will be relevant to public works employees across the State of Florida. The T2 Center is more than willing to provide any assistance needed in determining topics as well as helping to find potential speakers/presenters. 7. The Florida T2 Center will record each webinar and will make the recordings available after the event is completed. The best method for posting the recordings and making them available to the public will be determined at a later date. Through this partnership, the T2 Center hopes to more fully engage APWA Members and to provide much needed training to agencies across the State of Florida in which travel and budget restraints hinder continuing education. By signing below, both the Florida T2 Center and the APWA Florida Chapter agree to the terms stated within this document effective October 1, 2015.
