PTSD: In an Age of Violence, Terror and Disaster November 9-10, 2007 Miyako Hotel (Hotel Kabuki) This program will feature lectures and workshops by leading experts on advances in understanding and treating posttraumatic stress disorder. New research in brain, mind, and behavior relationships in PTSD will be presented informing novel behavioral and pharmacological treatments. TARGET AUDIENCE Physicians Psychiatrists Psychologists Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Nurses Allied Health Professional EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES An attendee completing this course should be able to discuss: List key advances in diagnosing and treating PTSD Describe recent advances in basic science research on learning and unlearning conditioned fear and how they inform novel treatments of PTSD Describe concepts in management of PTSDrelated problems including anger, substance abuse, depression, and stressrelated medical problems. ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UCSF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency. For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME. The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM.
