United Way s early intervention program identifies in younger students the A B Cs that may set the stage for dropping out later: attendance, behavior and course performance issues. Fight for the two out of 25 students who may not graduate this year by supporting the United Way campaign. 2. The United Way Family Center at Benjamin Franklin High School provides on-site daycare and parenting, financial education and job readiness programs for students and others in this South Baltimore neighborhood. One-hundred percent of teen parents who are seniors have received their diploma, compared to a national graduation rate of only 40 percent. Help young families succeed by supporting the United Way campaign. 1. United Way fights for the basic necessity of housing for families across central Maryland. And when families can stay in their homes, children don t have to endure disruptive and unsetting school changes that can derail academic performance. Support homelessness prevention, shelter diversion and rapid rehousing for our neighbors in need by making your gift to the United Way Campaign. 2. United Way s Project Homeless Connect, an annual event now held in both Baltimore City and Harford County, helps thousands of families, children and individuals access critical services such as dental and vision care, healthcare, photo IDs (required for most housing and job applications), healthy food, legal services, haircuts and more. Join the fight to put the most vulnerable in our communities back on the path to a self-sufficient life by making a gift to the United Way campaign.

United Way fights for family financial stability by helping people get a job or improve their current job and income through training, GED instruction, and mentoring programs. The average hourly wage for those who ve secured jobs through United Way employment programs is $5 more than minimum wage. Put your donation to work for those seeking a more stable job and life with a gift to the United Way campaign. 2. One of the most common struggles returning veterans face is finding and keeping a job. The Veterans Treatment Docket, coordinated by United Way, helps get veterans back on their feet and ready to re-enter the workforce. Various partner agencies help veterans in the program access job training, coaching and placement services. You can fight for those who fought for our country by giving to the United Way Campaign. 1. United Way volunteer harvesting events held at various farms and gardens throughout the region have resulted in almost five million pounds of food each year for our neighbors in need. No one should have to fight for the right to healthy, nutritious food. Help feed those in need and those living in food deserts with a donation to the United Way campaign. 2. Last year, more than 4,500 families were thankful for United Way s Harvest of Plenty program, which provides all the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal to low-income families. More than 125 volunteers and 30 partner organizations made the holiday brighter for families in need by handing phone requests and packing and distributing meals. Your gift to the United Way campaign helps support this and other programs that improve family and community health.
