PROJECT 13 PARTNERSHIP: St. Jude Children s Research Hospital 2013 Give thanks. Walk. Toolkit Walk. Give. To help them live. November 23 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to continue our support for St. Jude Children s Research Hospital by joining forces for the 2013 St. Jude Give thanks. Walk. on Saturday, November 23 as a national volunteer partner for the third consecutive year. Our efforts help raise funds and bring awareness to the lifesaving mission of St. Jude, to find cures for kids suffering from cancer, sickle cell and other deadly diseases. St. Jude does this by combining pioneering research with exceptional care. The St. Jude Give thanks. Walk. is a fun, family-friendly 5K that takes place in communities across the country. It provides a great opportunity to engage two important groups of supporters the African-American community and our illustrious sisterhood who help raise crucial funds for research and treatment. Sorors are encouraged to fundraise $100 or more in honor of our Centennial. Thanks to supporters, no family ever pays St. Jude for anything because the hospital covers the cost of treatment, travel, lodging and food for patients and a family member. As a National Volunteer Partner, chapters are asked to: Identify a local Delta Champion, for each participating walk market. The local Delta Champion will be responsible for: Active participation on local walk volunteer committee Recruitment of 25 walkers for local team Recruitment of 20 volunteers for Walk Day and/or prewalk events, such as Kick-off Party, Pre-Registration or Venue-Set-up

No family ever pays St. Jude for the care their child receives and, for every child treated here, thousands more have been saved worldwide through St. Jude discoveries. The hospital has played a pivotal role in pushing U.S. pediatric cancer survival rates from 20 to 80 percent overall, and is the first and only National Cancer Institutedesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. It is also a leader in the research and treatment of blood disorders and infectious diseases in children. St. Jude was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, who believed that no child should die in the dawn of life. Join that mission by visiting stjude.org or following us on facebook.com/stjude and twitter.com/stjude.
