From the Regional Managers Desk Greetings Brother s & Co-Workers, Wow!! This winter just keeps on going. Here we are entering March and spring is supposed to be just around the corner. We are all hoping that it gets here sooner than later. March can be a nasty weather month and I m sure we ve all had enough of old man winter messing with us for the past few months. There are a lot of things going on over the next couple of months as we enter the final 2 months of our year. There is a lottery raffle that Hugh Sheridan has put together to help the MA/RI Association raise some much needed funds to help pay for conventions and conferences and other association obligations. A challenge has been put out to Mike Tolson that if all lodges sold their tickets by March 1 st Woburn would donate a book of $10 tickets. Today is March 1 st and something tells me some lodges haven t done their part to help. We also have the Tri Association Midyear Conference just around the corner in Framingham MA Mar 13-16. The Theme for the weekend is keeping with St Patrick s day on the 17 th. This should be a fun weekend where everyone can pretend to be Irish and have a great time with friends from around New England. As part of the weekend we will be discussing the proposed General Law changes. The proposed changes to the General Laws have been sent to all our lodges and are on the General Governor s web page on the Mooseintl.org website. The changes are much less controversial than the last batch. Please make sure you come to the Mid Year Conference in Framingham for the open forum discussion that will be held there. We need your opinion about the changes. Both good and bad. We will also be discussing the latest survey on why members choose not to renew their dues as well as offer many classes. Other events on the radar coming up fast are the Bring Mooseheart to New England Golf Tournament to be hosted by the Chicopee Falls lodge on May 24, 2014. This will be a great time as we are moving it to the spring this year. I m sure every golfer will be looking forward to this event and Chicopee will do an awesome job hosting it. More information will be available at the Midyear and will be sent to all lodges once everything is finalized. We are always looking for new ideas to raise funds for what we have to do. If you have any suggestions please let us know. Your ideas do make a difference in how we do business. As we continue to bring in new members to our lodges it is important that we inform them about what Moose is and what it does for children and seniors in our care. We are an organization that cares about helping others and that is what we should be promoting to new members. Not just our bars and cheap drinks. Those are not reasons why we exist. Please keep that in mind when you talk to your friends and family members as you tell them about the Moose. We have been doing good things to help others for over 100 years and that in itself is something to be really proud of. We ve made a difference in thousands of lives and that is more important than all the cheap drinks and food in the world. One thing that many of our members have been asking is why Moose doesn t have a national advertising campaign. The answer is quite simple. All lodges aren t created equal and not every lodge holds to a high standard. Over the next year we will be working with our lodges to bring them all up to speed to where we would be proud to bring our mothers or children in our lodge s and not have to worry about the foul language and poor behavior in our lodges. This will be a huge undertaking. But one we need to meet head on in order to be ready for when that national advertising campaign comes along. We must do out part to make sure our lodges are fun, friendly, and a safe place for our members to go and enjoy what our lodges have to offer.
