EURON WORKSHOP DRUGS AND THE BRAIN: FROM LABORATORY TO CLINIC October 1 5, 2019 University of Crete, Heraklion, Crete, Greece Introduction: In this EURON workshop different topics in relation to Psychopharmacology will be presented. The topics for this event are: NEURODEGENERATION MOOD BRAIN GUT AXIS COGNITION ENHANCEMENT ILLICIT DRUGS The aim of this workshop is to give an up to date overview of the latest developments in these different research fields. Students will get a better understanding how drugs work in the brain and how drugs can be developed to treat various brain disorders. The five different thematic topics will be accompanied by interactive workshops. In these workshops small groups will discuss a specific topic that relates to the theme on a specific day. This will stimulate active participation in discussions, and is further encouraged by educationally well trained experts, coming from academia and industry. Participants also have the opportunity to present their own research in poster and elevator pitch sessions. One day will be organized in collaboration with the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience (HSfN). The scientific programme will be accompanied by social events. Organization: European Graduate School of Neuroscience (EURON), School for Mental Health and Neuroscience and the Dept. of Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology, Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. In collaboration with the Graduate Program of Neuroscience, University of Crete, Heraklion, Greece, and in conjunction with the Hellenic Society for Neuroscience (HSfN). Organizers: EURON & Maastricht University: Prof. Arjan Blokland, Dr. Gunter Kenis, Prof. Jos Prickaerts, Dr. Nicole Senden University of Crete: Prof. Kyriaki Thermos, Dr. Kyriaki Sidiropoulou Registration: The workshop is open for PhD students, junior post doctoral researchers and also for master students doing an internship in a relevant research field, with a maximum of 50 participants. The registration starts on March 1st, 2019. Early bird registration: March 1 July 1 / Late registration: July 1 August 30.
Registration fee (incl. accommodation and dinners): Early bird: Euron Members: 350 EUR / Non Euron Members: 450 EUR / Industry: 650 EUR Late registration: Euron Members: 400 EUR / Non Euron Members: 500 EUR / Industry: 700 EUR More information: This workshop qualifies for 2 European credits. Participants will get a certificate of attendance listing the credits. http://www.euronschool.eu/ secr.euron@maastrichtuniversity.nl Teaching Content: Lectures by experts in the field Discussion groups on a specific statement, moderated by the experts in the field. Afterwards, each group will give a presentation on their findings during a plenary session. Poster presentations: all participants have to submit an abstract of their research and present a poster. Elevator pitches: 5 minute presentations by participants.
