RAINBOW ROOM NEEDS DONATIONS There is now a collection box at the Center for the Rainbow Room of Wood County. It is being decorated by our associates so if you want to draw on the box, please feel free to do so. The Rainbow Room provides basic emergency needs of children served by Child Protective Services of Wood County. New coats, shoes, blankets, winter pajamas, jeans for teens (boys and girls) and infant boys clothing are requested. The children benefiting from these donations leave their homes with nothing and then enter foster care or group homes. Please consider contributing to this very worthwhile community project. FOOD TEAM LEADER POSITION Food Team #3 presently has an opening for the lead on that team. Anyone interested in taking on this volunteer leadership position please contact Sally A at the Center. We really appreciate our volunteer cook teams. They prepare the Friday lunch meal each week. The food teams are always looking for more volunteers. Just let someone know that you are interested in helping.

TAI CHI CLASS HAS STARTED AT FYAC! BENEFITS OF TAI CHI FOR SENIORS 1. Relieves physical effects of stress. 2. Promotes deep breathing. 3. Reduces bone loss in menopausal women. 4. Improves lower body and leg strength. 5. Helps with arthritis pain. 6. Reduces blood pressure. 7. Requires mind and body integration through mental imagery. 8. Accumulates energy by releasing endorphins rather than depleting them. 9. Enhances mental capacity and concentration. 10. Improves balance and stability by strengthening ankles and knees. 11. Promotes faster recovery from strokes and heart attacks. 12. Improves conditions of Alzheimer s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson s. This gentle form of exercise can help maintain strength, flexibility, and balance, and could be the perfect activity for the rest of your life. Tai chi is often described as meditation in motion, but it might well be called medication in motion. There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. And you can get started even if you aren t in top shape or the best of health. Tai chi differs from other types of exercise in several respects. The movements are usually circular and never forced, the muscles are relaxed rather than tensed, the joints are not fully extended or bent, and connective tissues are not stretched. Tai chi can be easily adapted for anyone, from the most fit to people confined to wheelchairs or recovering from surgery. Although tai chi is slow and gentle and doesn t leave you breathless, it addresses the key components of fitness muscle strength, flexibility, balance, and, to a lesser degree, aerobic conditioning. www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy medication in motion Wednesdays at 1:00 pm Offered free of charge.

FOR FRIDAYS AT 10:00 AM BENEFITS OF YOGA... Improves balance and flexibilty Strengthens muscles Supercharges the brain Increases circulation Reduces depression Calms the mind Soothes stress Improves range of motion Eases back pain Improves concentration Protects the heart Promotes more zzz s Boosts body confidence Removes headaches Lessens inflammation Helps breathing Slows aging Eases cancer recovery Fights incontinence Improves your day Curbs neck pain Improving bone density CHAIR YOGA CLASS Both men and women welcome! FYAC CHAIR YOGA CLASS IS OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE.
