To develop a medical vocabulary through a study of basic structures of medical words including prefixes, suffixes and root forms. 2. To spell terms correctly. 3. To learn the meaning of these terms. 4. To pronounce them correctly. 5. To understand the structure and function of each of the body systems. 6. To become familiar with surgical terms and surgical procedures. 7. To become familiar with terminology related to the body systems. 1. Given a list of the more common prefixes used in constructing medical terms, the student will be able to define the meaning of each prefix and cite three or more medical terms which incorporates the prefix in their structure. 2. Given a list of the more common suffixes used in constructing medical terms, the student will be able to define the meaning of each suffix and cite three or more medical terms which incorporates the suffix in their structure. 3. Given a list of the more common word parts used in constructing medical terms, the student will be able to define the word parts and combine them with other prefixes and suffixes into meaningful medical terms, accurately defining the resulting compound structure.
