Serving 22 communities in Northeast Alberta since 2012. Independent Charity as of 2014. Full staff team as of 2015. The Dragonfly Centre respectfully acknowledges that we are situated on Treaty 6 territory, traditional land of First Nations and Metis people.

WHAT WE DO Creating a region free from sexual violence and where all individuals are supported in their healing journey. HOW WE DO IT We are committed to ending the cycle of sexual abuse and sexual assault by providing specialized intervention, counselling and preventative education to individuals, families, and communities in the North East Alberta. Our services our delivered based on our core values of belief, non-judgement, respect, inclusiveness, cultural sensitivity, and compassion.

Counselling Our counsellors focus on providing a trauma informed counselling approach; ensuring our clients feel supported and safe, while learning skills and coping mechanisms needed to heal. - M.Moulton, Clinical Supervisor Trends include: 1) substantial increase in intakes (from 7 per month to 30 per month), 2) influx of crisis cases Focus on policies and practices including: intake process, triaging clients, assessing clients at risk, case notes, victim benefits, etc. Development of Women s Trauma Support Group (6-week) Introduction of Body Education program

2016-2017 Goals (as established AGM 2016) Community Action Plan Strategic Planning Group Counselling Program / Alternative Modalities Continued presence in all of our communities Develop stronger relationships and create awareness with neighbouring Metis and First Nations communities Expand educational programming to LLB, Cold Lake and Bonnyville

Agency Statistics (April 2016 - Mar 31, 2017) - 222 new clients; 362 total clients (in 2016 156 total clients, 2015 71 total clients) - 32 group clients - 1,689 sessions, 52 group (2015/16 - approx 600 sessions, 44 group)( - 80% female, 20% male, 4% trans - 42% children (17 and under) - 58% adults (18 and older) - 19% identify a mental health diagnosis - 29% identify misuse of unhealthy behavioural coping / addition (i.e., alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.) - 100% of clients who report validation by counsellor - 100% of clients who report increased understanding of effects of sexual abuse/assault - 62/% of clients with reduced scores on TSC-40. - 80% of clients demonstrating progress on goals - 71% of children show decreased scores on PROPS/CROPS

Education & Prevention Our goal is to educate individuals and communities about the impact of sexual assault, family violence & healthy friendships and relationships. Educational Programs 2016-2017 Over 1,000 people served 102 presentations in 16 communities (last year approx. 77) First Responder Training Portage College - College Edition FASD 1-day Training Summer Camps Teddy Bear Fairs / Health Fairs (Metis Settlements)
