GETTING TO KNOW JOSH BROWN, PT What do you do when you are not being a Physical Therapist? Foremost, I am a family man and I like to spend time with my family. My wife and I have 5 young children, which is a hand full. We enjoy playing sports, camping, playing games and watching movies. I spend a lot of time at parks and gyms watching and coaching my kids. I grew up on a dairy farm and beef ranch, so I enjoy going home and helping out on the farm and riding horses. I love to play basketball, softball, volleyball, and football. What s your favorite thing to do when you re not at work? My favorite thing to do is play and watch basketball - I try to play a couple times a week. I am a Utah Jazz fan and watch most of their games. How d you get started with that? When I was little, I would go and watch my dad and uncles play basketball in a city league. It was so cool to me. Then I began watching the Jazz and the Bulls play and soon I idolized John Stockton, Karl Malone, and Michael Jordan. As a little kid, my 3 brothers and I begged our parents for a basketball hoop. My dad welded a basketball standard and cemented it in our back yard. There was just gravel for the court, so my brothers and I hauled wagon load after wagon load of rocks away until there was just dirt left. We played hard and had lots of fun. Why do you like to do it? I m honestly not sure why I enjoy basketball so much. It is a great way for me to get exercise, alleviate stress, and I enjoy good competition. After a good game of basketball, I get a sense of satisfaction that is different than other things in life. Who do you do it with? I like to play with my family, friends, or really anybody that can play a good game of basketball - I m not too picky. What s your most exciting moment? When I was in 8th Grade, I played Junior Jazz Basketball in Richfield which is a small town in Southern Utah. Our team won the league and the region so we got the opportunity to play at the Salt Palace where the Utah Jazz was playing at the time. It was a dream come true to play where the pros played. What is something that a lot of people don t know about you? I ride horses and do a bit of cowboying. Every year I help out on the ranch. We do all the branding, driving the cattle on the mountain range, and gathering them in the fall.

SUCCESS STORY In November of 2015 Jean Dalebout went for a simple bike ride. Unfortunately she fell while on that ride and broke her right arm and, being right handed, was really struggling. When she came in for her initial visit she was unable to fully straighten or bend her elbow, was in a lot of pain, and was very weak. Jean was not a first timer to physical therapy and had been to Rock Run Physical Therapy after having rotator cuff repair surgery and on another occasion when she had total knee replacement surgery. But Jean first started to trust Rock Run Physical Therapy when she brought her husband in several years ago. Jean said I originally became acquainted with Rock Run when my husband was referred for hip pain. The staff was very kind and patient and soon into his therapy they realized that not only was therapy not helping, but that there was another issue. The therapist suspected he had Parkinson s Disease so we went back to the doctor and sure enough, we got the devastating diagnosis that it was indeed Parkinson s Disease. The staff was very aware of Denny s condition and got us the help we needed. Jean has a lot of personal knowlege about the therapy process. You could say she is a frequent flyer when it comes to physical therapy and each time she has had therapy at Rock Run she has graduated with flying colors! Therapy is not easy, but I always looked forward to coming to my appointment because everyone on the staff treated me so kindly. They made me feel that they were happy to see me and they make very single patient feel the same way. The staff at Rock Run are excellent in their physical therapy skills. I have visited two other physical therapy clinics and Rock Run is superior compared to them! Following her shoulder surgery and knee surgery Jean was back to riding bikes and going to the gym. Her broken arm therapy was no different. She is now back to going to the gym 3 days a week, volunteering at the hospital, and doing everything she normally does. She is very appreciative of the help she received at Rock Run saying, I would recommend Rock Run to anyone who is in need of physical therapy because Rock Run is the BEST! I am grateful for the wonderful staff and really enjoyed coming to Rock Run! WAY TO GO JEAN!

We have teamed up with Miss Roy, D Mia Lamar, to help gather shoes for Power2Become! D Mia got involved with the Power2Become program through the Miss Utah Pageant which she will be a contestant in this year. She told Rock Run PT that the organization donates all of the shoes to those in need of shoes in Africa. This year the beneficiaries will be those from West Africa. We will have the donation box at our Roy location until April 15, 2016 but you can drop shoes off at both locations and we will make sure they get to D Mia. So bring in all your unwanted shoes before April 15th! Thank you to D Mia Lamar for allowing us to be a part of this great program!
