TRB Annual Meeting Scope All Modes Research Policy Practice

TRB Annual Meeting Program 115 specialty workshops 700 lectern and poster sessions, combined 550 TRB sponsored meetings More than 5,000 presentations within the above In addition, there are ~150 associated group meetings

TRB Annual Meeting is International More than 2,300 attendees from 70 countries outside of the U.S. attended in 2018 More than 20 events are dedicated to international activities in 2019 Sunday International Participant Reception (7:00-8:30 PM)

Registering for the Annual Meeting Registration is required for all attendees (including presenters) and can be found online: http://www.trb.org/annualmeeting/registration.aspx The Annual Meeting registration and hotel reservation processes are combined After registering for the meeting, you will have the option to make your hotel reservation Domestic full registrants with accounts paid in full by November 30 will have the option to have their name badges and ticket(s) mailed to them before the meeting

Reserving a Hotel Room You must register for the Annual Meeting first There is a hotel comparison chart (including distance to the meeting venues) on the website: http://www.trb.org/annualmeeting/housing.aspx There is also a Meeting and Hotel Map there There are 22 hotels If your preferred hotel is sold out, add yourself to the waitlist. But you must complete a reservation at another hotel. This is required to save your waitlist request.

Travel Arrangements There are 3 airports serving the D.C. region: o Reagan National served by the Metro Rail o Washington Dulles International served by a shuttle to Metro Rail o Baltimore Washington International - served by a shuttle to Metro Rail Better ticket prices may be available if you are flexible to use more than one airport http://www.trb.org/annualmeeting/transportation.aspx is where air travel and much more transportation information is located

Continuing Education Credits Nationally recognized Professional Development Hours (PDHs) may be claimed for attending the TRB Annual Meeting. Each hour of participation earns one (1) PDH; attendees must maintain their own records of attendance. Continuing Maintenance [CM] credits for retaining the American Institute of Certified Planners certification [AICP] will also be offered at the TRB Annual Meeting. Approximately 80 sessions have been approved for CM credits. They will be noted in both the Annual Meeting Interactive Program and the Mobile App.

What Type of Events Occur at the Annual Meeting? Workshops Paper and Presentation Sessions (Lectern Sessions) Meet the Author Poster Sessions Exhibits Committee and Subcommittee meetings

Workshops Most (~90%) are on Sunday There are several (14) on Thursday morning They are typically open to all and are included in the general Annual Meeting registration fee The exception is the Human Factors workshops, which include lunch; therefore, there is a fee Workshops are half day events; a few have a morning Part I and afternoon Part II

Paper and Presentation Sessions Monday morning through Wednesday afternoon Morning, Afternoon and some Evenings Open to all Registrants (except Exhibit Only registrants) Most sessions last one hour and 45 minutes Evening and Wednesday afternoon sessions are one hour and 30 minutes long

Meet the Author Poster Sessions Approximately 60% of all papers are presented in poster sessions Open to all Registrants Great opportunity to talk with the emerging and leading researchers in your area Poster sessions are held morning and afternoon Monday through Wednesday, and on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Exhibit Hall A Great Educational Opportunity! In the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Exhibit Hall D Open 4:00PM 7:00PM on Sunday Open 9:00AM 4:00PM Monday and Tuesday Open to all registrants

Committee and Subcommittee Meetings Open to all Great opportunity to talk with peers in your area Also an opportunity to introduce yourself to the committee leadership They take place all day and during the evening/night

Standing Committees How do I become Involved? Attend the Welcome and Attendee Orientation Session on Sunday, 2:30PM to 4:00PM Volunteers from the committees will be there to speak with you Introduce yourself to the committee Chairs and members

Standing Committees How do I become Involved after the Annual Meeting? Respond to the committee interest email that is sent to all New Attendees soon after the Annual Meeting Essentially, by signing-up as a Friend of a committee through MyTRB [www.mytrb.org]

Other Tips that Might Help There is Wi-Fi throughout the venue Sessions, Exhibits, and Workshops are held in the Convention Center Committee, Subcommittee, and other meetings are held in the Marriott Marquis Hotel There are Food & Beverage Outlets at the Convention Center, including within the Exhibits space, and at the Marriott Marquis Hotel
