ADHD: DSM-IV DSM-IV Codes are the classification found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders This is primary book used in diagnosing psychological problems. You can think of this book as the "guide" for diagnosing psychological disorders used by clinical psychologists, counselors, and therapists. The DSM-IV has all the definitions of disorders, criteria for diagnosis

Anxiety Disorder People with generalized anxiety disorder display excessive anxiety and face several anxiety-related symptoms. There are several different types of anxiety disorders. Examples include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder.

Anxiety Disorder Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) : is an anxiety disorder in which a person will continually be tense and apprehensive. Some of the symptoms include Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge Being easily fatigued Difficulty concentrating or having mind go blank Irritability Muscle tension Worrying feeling and difficulty controlling it

Anxiety Disorder Panic Disorder: An anxiety disorder marked by minutes long episodes of intense dread (or Panic Attack) which a person experiences terror with chest pain and choking. This is characterized by repeated panic attacks With each panic attack can last for a few minutes or an hour which is very uncommon This affects 1 in every 75 people

Anxiety Disorder Phobia: This is the persistent irrational fear of a specific object, event, or person. This must include experiences of sudden episodes of extreme and intense dread Must be an irrational fear, not just a slight fear of something

Personality Disorder Antisocial Personality: This is someone who lacks empathy/guilt and who has little regard for other people Dependent Personality: This is someone who relies on the attention of others too much and how cannot make major decisions by themselves. Histrionic Personality: This is someone who needs to be the center of attention. They also seek others approval Narcissistic Personality: This person lacks empathy, requires an excessive amount of approval. They also may not take criticism well

Somatoform Disorder Mental illness that causes one or more bodily symptoms, including pain.causes one or more bodily symptoms, including pain. The symptoms may or may not be traceable to a physical cause including general medical conditions they cause excessive and disproportionate levels of distress. The symptoms can involve one or more different organs and body systems. Many people who have SSD will also have an anxiety disorder.

Dissociative Disorder Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID): This is classified by someone having two or more distinct and altering personalities. This may be caused to deal with unacceptable impulses. It's also a reaction to trauma as a way to help someone suppress bad memories. The patient would also have different names handwriting styles and mannerisms with each separate personality. One good example of dissociative identity disorder in the media is the movie Split. The main character Kevin he has many personalities which all differ from each other drastically, they also all talk and dress very different

Dissociative Disorder Dissociative Amnesia: This occurs when some one cannot remember things this usually happens with physiological basis for their loss in memory. The memories still exist but are buried. This may happen to people because of trauma whether physical or emotional Dissociative Fugue: This is when a person suddenly and with no reason travel far from home or work which no memory of there past it can be caused by a traumatic event

Mood Disorder Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): This mood disorder is classified by being unhappy for at least 2 weeks with no apparent cause. Some symptoms are feeling of worthlessness, loss of interest in friends, family and activities, problems eating and sleeping and thoughts of suicide Bipolar Disorder: This is classified by altering periods of depression and mania. During episodes of mania the individual may have feelings of high energy, These episodes may make people a lot more confident or a lot more irritable.they also may engage in risky behavior during manic episodes.

Schizophrenia Split Mind Schizophrenia is classified as disorganized thinking, distorted perception, and inappropriate emotions and actions. Only 1 out of every 100 people in their lifetime this is usually affects young people as they enter adulthood and it affects more males than females This is usually caused by dopamine overactivity, low brain activity in the frontal lobes or birth complications

Schizophrenia There are three types of schizophrenia Paranoid Schizophrenia: Classified by delusions which are false beliefs often persecution and hallucinations which are sensory experiences without sensory stimulation which are usually in the form of orders and insults Disorganised Schizophrenia: Classified disorganised speech like word salad which is when you jump from one idea to another mid-sentence. Another characteristic of type two is inappropriate emotions like the flat affect which is a zombie like state of apathy Catatonic Schizophrenia: Classified by being catatonic or motionless for hours at a time
