Media Release Office of the Sheriff Anderson County, Tennessee Sheriff Paul N. White July 16, 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Undercover Drug Operation Nets 60 Indictments - UPDATE 1 As of Wednesday, July 16, twenty-six of the thirty-six persons indicted in the undercover drug operation have been arrested. So far, four vehicles have also been seized as a part of this investigation. These indictments and arrests come after months of hard work by the Special Operations Unit of the Anderson County Sheriff s Department. Drug cases take long hours and much time to come to conclusion. Some of these cases literally took months to investigate, make drug buys, and send to the DA s Office for prosecution. These investigators are to be commended for a job well done. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was a vital part of this operation. Sheriff s investigators and TBI agents worked together in making drug buys on the individuals involved. Our thanks to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for their help during this investigation. We wish to thank the Lake City Police Department for their assistance during this operation. Their help was instrumental in the indictment of several persons in the Lake City area. We also wish to thank the Oak Ridge Police Department for their help in Friday s arrests. Oak Ridge Police Officers worked side by side with Sheriff s Deputies in the round-up. The District Attorney s Office are to be commended for the long hours preparing and presenting these cases to the Grand Jury. The DA s Office assisted investigators from the very beginning of this operation through the arrests on Friday. Our thanks to the Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force for all their assistance not only during the arrests but throughout this operation. The Task Force has provided support to the Sheriff s Department many times over the years and is invaluable to drug enforcement efforts in Anderson County.

Last, but certainly not least, we wish to thank those citizens whose tips led us to many of the individuals charged in this investigation. The information provided was a foundation that led to drug buys and arrests of these offenders. The public s help is very important in reducing illegal drug activity. We ask that anyone with information about illegal drugs to call our Drug Hotline at 463-7175.
