MINUTES OF THE DE- CEMBER MEETING. THANK YOU AND PRAYER REQUESTS CARS AND COFFEE FOR DECEMBER OUR PARTY AT A GLANCE 2 3 4 5-6 The club has no official opinion on the new 2015 Mustang, but several members have indicated that it is not totally to their liking. But since it is a Mustang it will be well received and appreciated. Kurt took a few minutes to thank several people. First he thanked Leon Rooks for his continued support of our club and his generosity in providing door prizes and goodie bag swag for our show each year. UPCOMING EVENTS 7
PAGE 2 John T. was thanked for stepping up and taking on the role of MCA representative. Emily Griffith and Cara Morrell were thanked for their work on the newsletter. Emily for the newsletter and for having so much fun taking pictures at all our events so we have pictures for our Facebook page, newsletter, and website. Kurt especially thanked everyone who came out to help set up for our show on Friday evening and to work the show all day on Saturday. The show is always well organized, well run, and well judged, and our club members always are great representatives of friendship and kindness when it comes to our show. Kurt thanked Bruce Sandy for his willingness to take the chairmanship of the committee to find a new location for our show in October. Bruce has submitted the paperwork and done all the legwork to secure a site for our next show. We are hopeful that we will have a location to announce at our January meeting. When we have the location finalized we will begin selling the raffle tickets for the 2015 Mustang that will be the prize. This year was the 14 th year we have held our Christmas dinner meeting at Bluewater. We thanked Dick Steinkopf for making all the arrangements and the staff of Bluewater for making it such a pleasant event for all of us. Our next meeting will be January 12, at 3:00PM at Madison s in Snead s Ferry. Our Spring Event may be either a Poker Run or Scavenger Hunt or a combination of both activities. We will also invite the Corvette Club to join us again. This event is still in the planning stages. Walt Hickey represented Step Up for Soldiers and Shannon McInville represented Women of Hope and Kurt presented each of them checks for $1,100 from our club for their charities. Kurt showed us the new trophy that will be awarded as the Sponsor s Choice at our show. The large trophy will be on permanent display at Capital Ford. The winner will receive a plaque with the date and information about the award. Kurt then presented the Mustanger of the Year/Les Joyner Award. This is the most prestigious award given by the Southeastern NC Mustang Club. The winner this year was a very speechless Emily Griffith. Emily accepted the trophy and the plaque that accompanies it. Neil and Sue Anders, last year s recipients of this award were presented dash plaques with both of their Cobra s on the dash plaque. Kurt adjourned the business portion of our meeting and our Dirty Santa gift exchange began. There were some clever gifts this year, and lots of plotting and planning to be sure members had the gift they wanted when they left the party. As always it was a wonderful time, the fellowship and love of each of our members is a joy to each of us. Kurt wished the members a MERRY CHRISTMAS, and adjourned our gathering until January 12, 2014.
PAGE 3 THANK YOU FROM THE MUSTANGER OF THE YEAR I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the members of the board and the members of the SENCMC for this great honor. I was not expecting this honor at all, and I am humbled by it. When I look at the names engraved on the trophy I realize that I am terribly inadequate to have my name there with the others. I promise I will do my very best to live up to this honor and to be a good representative of our club in our community. Thank you so much. Emily Griffith PRAYER REQUESTS At this busy, joyous time of year please take time to pause and remember several of our members in prayer. Julie McCombs is still struggling with health issues and has cracked her pelvis. Julie and Hilbert are faithful members and we need to lift them up as we pray for healing for Julie and for strength and peace for both Julie and Hilbert. Keep Randy Rackley in your prayers as he recovers from surgery to remove a brain tumor. Also keep Betty in your prayers as she is the primary care giver and that is also a challenging task. Dixie Gurkin is facing Christmas without Earl this year so please keep Dixie and her family lifted up during the Christmas season. If you have a prayer request or praise that we need to include in our newsletters and emails please contact Emily, Cara, or Bonnie so that we can get the word out to our members.
PAGE 4 DECEMBER CARS AND COFFEE December Cars and Coffee was held on December 7 at Chili s. Several of our members attended and as always everyone had a great time until the rain arrived. Some of us stayed and ate lunch and others left early to avoid the rain. The January 2014 Cars and Coffee will be held January 4, 2014 at Schaffer BMW.
