Grade 9 HEALTHY ACTIVE LIVING Grade 9 course is entitled PPL 101 in the course calendars...co-ed A dynamic course exposing students to a wide variety of team, individual, fitness, cultural, traditional, outdoor, cooperative, low organizational and target activities including bowling, wall climbing, cross-country cou skiing, resistance-training, snow-shoeing, swimming, hiking, self-defense, aerobics, cricket, boxercise, sepak takraw, rollerblading, mini-golf, skiing, snowboarding, disc golf, skating, broomball, tchoukball, hockey... Several guest fitness instructors are brought in for inspiration such as Boxing, Strength and Conditioning... Health units include SUBSTANCE ABUSE, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, CPR & FIRST AID and SEXUALITY with guest speakers of nurse and police officer.

Grade 10 HEALTHY ACTIVE LIVING Grade 10 course is entitled PPL 20m (male) or PPL20f (female) in the course calendars... Not co-ed NO PREQUISITE required. Same dynamic focus as grade 9 with exposure to new activities such as curling and golf along with traditional games such as tennis, badminton, soccer, and additional exposure to various fitness training instructors... Health units include NUTRITION, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, and BODY IMAGE.

Grade 11 HEALTHY ACTIVE LIVING Offers 3 choices; PPL 30m (male) or PPL 30f (female) course with expectations mirrored in grade 9 and 10 including newer activities like paintballing -NO PREQUISITE required PAF 30t (TRAINING) -Co-ed, NO PREQUISITE required. -A course engaging student's interest in developing a personal and healthy-fit lifestyle by participating in various fitness activities that include Yoga, Pilates, Tai-chi, Fusion, Weight-training, Circuit-Training, Cardio-salsa, Stability/Medicine-ball training, Aquaaerobics, Aqua-jogging, Swimming, Kick Boxing, Boxing, Boxercise, Plyometrics and visits to local health clubs. PPZ 301 -Co-ed, NO PREQUISITE required. -A classroom theory-based course aimed at helping students develop a personalized approach to healthy living by examining the factors that affect their own health and the health of individuals as members of the community. -Topics include HEALTHY EATING, POSITIVE SELF-IMAGE and VITALITY.

Grade 12 Offers 3 opportunities; PPL 401 HEALTHY ACTIVE LIVING EDUCATION Co-ed course NO PREQUISITE required. Paralleling activities in grades 9-11 Extension activities include a 3-day camping trip, archery, billiards, and horse-back riding, high ropes adventure. PLF 4C1 RECREATION AND FITNESS LEADERSHIP PREREQUISITE: Any Grade 11 open course in health and physical education. College level course focusing on the development of leadership related to recreational activities such as running tournaments and events in our own school and in the broader community. The course will prepare students for college programs in recreational, leisure and fitness leadership. PSE 4U1 EXERCISE SCIENCE This course prepares students for university programs in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, sports administration and health sciences. PREREQUISITE: Any Grade 11 university it or university/college it preparation course in science, or any Grade 11 or 12 open course in health and physical education Topics include Anatomy, Physiology, Joint Injuries, Nerves, Cardiovascular Systems, Nutrition, Biomechanics, History, Sociology and Psychology of Sport and Exercise! Field trips to Ontario Science Center, University of Guelph Library and Health & Performance Center as well as University of Waterloo Kinesiology Lab Days Guest speakers in class include Physiotherapists, Nutritionists, Elite Athletes, Athletic Trainers, Chiropractors, Orthopedists, Joint Replacement Specialists and Sport Psychologists.

WHO Any and all students in grade 9 12 WHEN Monday to Friday 3:00-4:30pm with teacher supervision.
