FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD THE MEDICARE DOCUMENTATION SEMINAR PRESENTER: DR. STEVE CONWAY TIME: 12:00 PM 6:00 PM 6 HOURS OF CEU: APPROVED FOR 2 HRS IN MANDATORY DOCUMENTATION This seminar will define and compose proper Medicare documentation to reflect the services provided. You will review guidelines and definitions for chiropractic treatment and understand clinical requirements to support active treatment designation. You will understand the clinical applications of Medicare maintenance documentation. During the seminar, you will also learn the requirements associated with the initial visit, proper PART analysis to determine subluxation, the correct development of clinical treatment plan, understanding the subsequent visit documentation requirements, and the application of the ABN form. Additionally, the seminar will get into Medicare guidelines associated with opting out, cash practice, participating/non-participating providers, and treatment of non-covered services. Dr. Conway will conclude the seminar with the overview of Medicare audits and documentation self-checklist. ABOUT STEVE CONWAY, DC, JD As an attorney, Dr. Conway represents chiropractors in the defense of chiropractic audits and is also creating offensive compliance systems to help prevent audits. His dual-discipline background uniquely positions him to assist the NBCE with areas where chiropractic and the law overlap, such as the ethics and boundaries examination. Dr. Conway remembers spending time in his father s chiropractic office when he was a boy. I got to see all of the miracles that he performed, he says, and I knew right then and there that I wanted to do the same thing. So, following in his father s footsteps, he attended Logan College of Chiropractic, which is where he met his wife and fellow chiropractor-to-be, Dr. Cindy Conway. Today the Drs. Conway live on a 120-acre horse farm near Wausau, Wisconsin. Giving back to chiropractic was also a lesson Dr. Conway learned from his father. I have a strong commitment to the colleges and new graduates, he says. When I visit the colleges today, I am proud to see that the focus of the students is helping people. This is the reason our profession will succeed into the future. In addition to his NBCE board role, he continues to serve on several committees for the ACA as well as multiple state positions in Wisconsin. FINDING YOUR WAY BACK TO THE FUNDAMENTALS OF MANAGING YOUR PRACTICE PRESENTER: DR. KELLE PLOTNER TIME: 12:00 PM 6:00 PM 6 HOURS OF CEU: APPROVED FOR 2 HRS IN MANDATORY COMPLIANCE & 2 HRS IN MANDATORY DOCUMENTATION We can no longer sit back and let our office exist. Even with the very best CA s, we must direct and oversee each department, ensuring compliance in each. The challenge is how to achieve this while meeting the demands of treating patients and fulfilling the required paperwork. Understanding protocols of what to look at and what to look for in a short amount of time is the key to any successful practice. From the front desk to the billing department; Medicare,

Medical Necessity, ABN, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Acts compliance program, EHR, post payment audits, privacy requirements, billing fraud and abuse, patient satisfaction, policies, procedures and appropriate training, impact every single aspect of our office. Living in this compliance world, it is more important than ever to include these required elements into our existing training programs. ABOUT KELLE PLOTNER, DC Dr. Plotner is the mother of 6 children and 15 grandchildren. All six of her children are serving in the National Guard or active duty military. She began her Chiropractic career as a CA, then went on to Chiropractic College and opened her own practice. Later she attended Medical School and opened the first and only multi-disciplinary clinic in Montana and now practices in North Dakota. Dr. Plotner is also a Certified Medical Compliance Specialist. Her unique style of consulting offers customized in-office training to medical and chiropractic clinics across the country.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24TH POSTURE ASSESSMENT REHAB & THERAPY PRESENTER: DR. STEVEN WEINIGER TIME: 8:00 AM 12:00 PM & 2:30 PM -5:30 PM 7 HOURS OF CEU From Sitting is the new smoking to tech-neck, posture is a growing concern in our slumping society. Simultaneously, America s changing healthcare system is creating a historic opportunity as declining insurance reimbursements are increasing out-of-pocket expenditures for non-essentials - including care for chronic, non-lifethreatening problems such as back pain. From healthcare providers to the general public, everyone acknowledges the importance of exercise and staying in motion, and all motion begins with posture. Focusing on posture is a unifying concept for bio-mechanically based, evidence-oriented clinicians to align with the rising meme of staying active. Strengthening posture means observing and then correcting sensorimotor errors between perceived posture and motion and external reality. Systematically retraining granular motion of compensatory and adaptive patterns is an important, often an overlooked factor in clinical NMS practices. The course will correlate clinical rationales for passive therapies with active strategies from creating posture awareness to then strengthening posture using balls, bands, foam pads and other low-tech tools. From building awareness with a digital photo to empowering people to find their strongest, core engaged posture and literally stand taller, you ll learn the keys to building a wellness identity as "the Posture Specialist". Insurers and third party payors demand active care plans, and the StrongPosture exercise protocols and rationales build a road to a successful practice which integrates active and passive care for improved results, referrals and post-acute care retention. Attendees learn Monday morning takeaways to build the three dimensions of a: Posture Consciousness to create awareness, Posture Concepts for common-sense posture communication, Posture Control with exercise protocols to strengthen PostureZone control. ABOUT DR. STEVEN WEINIGER Dr. Weiniger was appointed delegate to the White House Conference on Aging, the decennial event held by the President of the United States and Congress to develop recommendations on issues, policy and research in the field of aging. He later presented his findings at NCLC held in Washington, DC. Dr. Weiniger graduated from New York Chiropractic College and is a postgraduate instructor for University of Western States. He has presented as a posture expert for Northwestern, Logan, NYCC, UBCC, Parker, Dekalb College, Clayton University, and several other higher education, medical, corporate and private organizations. Dr. Weiniger is the lead instructor for the posture specialist certification, CPEP (Certified Posture Exercise Professional) setting the clinical standard for posture improvement protocols with clinicians worldwide. A resident of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Weiniger focuses on posture rehab, biomechanics and the importance of integrating exercise into every lifestyle. In addition to a busy speaking calendar, he s a prolific writer (Blog) and serves as managing partner of BodyZone.com, an online

resource offering a referral directory and comprehensive information about posture, exercise, posture therapies, and other wellness life habits. In his initiative to promote posture awareness and the importance of improving posture, Dr. Steven Weiniger along with his team at BodyZone.com developed PostureZone, a free posture assessment app for iphone, itouch and ipad. The app is offered on itunes and encourages people to assess their own posture, and also offers tips for posture improvement.
