Welcome To the Waters! When people come to live at The Waters, they experience warmth, hospitality and an innovative suite of personal wellbeing services and amenities that empowers them to make every day a best day. Our innovative approach to wellbeing was developed in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Center for Spirituality and Healing. It allows residents to leverage their strengths, discover new possibilities and make meaningful contributions within a thriving community. Each person is encouraged to live life to the fullest, as he or she defines it. The Waters actively address six dimensions that contribute to wellbeing: health and a feeling of security, community and engagement with others, a sense of purpose and connectedness with your environment. We believe that a balance of these dimensions contribute to health and happiness. We ve intentionally created a community where you have the choice to do what you want, when you want. Life at The Waters is all about you! Whether you envision community as supporting and interacting positively with others who share a common interests, as a calling that extends to our global society, or something defined differently, there are many ways to get connected and build a sense of purpose within your community and yourself. Our Lifestyle Living guide is designed to connect you with our program partners-- individuals, groups and organizations you can access as you choose. These options to enhance your overall life experience can be set up by you or through our concierge. We invite you to explore new experiences and what fits best for your lifestyle. The Waters Wellbeing Team has included a Thrive Index in this catalogue so you can selfassess your wellbeing and explore community programs that support, strengthen and enhance your best day experiences. You ll find these resources organized by wellbeing dimension. Whether you focus on your own interests, or coordinate with our community team members or fellow residents, this is your lifestyle, on your terms. Welcome home, we re glad you re here. Thrive on! Wellbeing Model The following six dimensions lay the foundation for a variety of lifestyle engagement opportunities that support a balanced life. In this guide, each is paired in complimentary combinations for you to design your own sense of Active Life with Purpose, Community Engagement, and Personal Growth. This model is designed with you in mind to provide the ultimate wellbeing experience. Active Life with Purpose (Security symbol) At its most basic level, security means freedom from fear, especially our most basic fears around health, personal safety and financial stability. Because fear can immobilize and incapacitate us, security is essential to our wellbeing. (Health symbol) Health is affected by the food we eat, how often we exercise, how we manage our stress and how much we sleep, as well as social, environmental and genetic influences. Lifestyle choices are responsible for nearly 90% of health outcomes. Personal Growth (Purpose symbol) Purpose guides life decisions, influences behavior, shapes goals, offers a sense of direction and creates meaning. Purpose is directly related to both health and happiness, and has a major impact on our wellbeing. (Environment symbol) Think of the environment as concentric rings starting with your home and workplace and widening out to your neighborhood, your region, the entire planet. At each level, environmental factors impact human health. At each level, we impact the environment with our choices and actions. This not only includes the quality of the air and water, but also the quality of our relationship with nature. Community Engagement (Relationships symbol) Healthy relationships are a vital component of overall health. We humans are social animals and as such, we have an innate need to be involved with other people. Strong family ties and friendships can increase our sense of security and self-esteem and provide a psychological buffer against stress, anxiety and depression (Community symbol) When we look at community as a whole, we find three attributes that play a large role in wellbeing: connectedness, livability and equity. We can explore each of these attributes to find factors that contribute to community wellbeing. 3

Cybersecurity Cybersecurity is general Internet safety, which includes protection of anything connected to or accessible by the Internet from networks themselves to the information stored in computers. Technology has changed tremendously in the past 25 years, and it only continues to advance. The Internet has brought us so many benefits. Email, electronic messaging and personal websites allow us to stay connected, informed and involved with family and friends. The Internet also provides an easy way to shop, plan travel and manage finances. However, with the many benefits comes increased risk. See the concierge for a list of local resources and tip sheets to keep your online experiences safe and productive.
