A Day at Lord & Taylor May 5 Shop all day while supporting your Auxiliary. Lord & Taylor will be host the Benefit Bash, an exclusive day filled with special savings, at Westfarms Mall Tuesday, May 5. For more information and an application to order tickets, please go to the Gift Shop. ***** 2 nd Pickin Patch Plant Sale May 16-22 Employees and volunteers can help raise money for the UCHC Auxiliary this spring by buying their flowering, vegetable or herb plants at Avon s Pickin Patch. Once again, the popular pick-your-own farm will donate to us 20 percent of the value of all plants bought from May 16 through May 22, the week before Memorial Day weekend, by anyone with a UCHC badge. Last year, Pickin Patch gave us $355 based on purchases during a very rainy week. If you are an employee, volunteer or retiree with a badge, we encourage you to visit Pickin Patch during this fund raising week. Your purchases will help us help you. Pickin Patch is located on Nod Road in Avon, just off Route 44 about a mile north of the Avon Old Farms Inn. ***** News from the Thrift Shop The Thrift Shop has expanded its hours as of Jan. 8. We are now open on Thursday evenings from 4 to 7 p.m. There has been a definite increase in thrift shop buying. The W.H.A.L.E. program is going along very well. As of Dec. 1 we had 358 discharged babies who are part of the program and whose families are using the W.H.A.L.E. stickers. The Family Place at Homewood Suites housed 20 families from January 1 to mid-february. All but two of the families were from Connecticut. One family was from Massachusetts, and the other, who stayed from December through mid-february, the was from Tennessee. We wish to thank all of you who donated your change to our Homewood Suites boxes, which are located in all our campus buildings. To date we have collected $1,930, which is specifically targeted for THE FAMILY PLACE. From Deborah Feigenbaum, the Neonatal Social worker, to Irene Engel: Again, many thanks to you and the Health Center Auxiliary for your continued generosity and support for this incredibly valued program. WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION TO THE AUXILIARY? Our major projects are: The Family Place at Homewood Suites W.H.A.L.E. (car seat project for babies) Scholarships for Medical/Dental students, etc. WE NEED EVERYONE TO SUPPORT THE AUXILIARY Visit our website for more details: http://auxiliary.uchc.edu UCHCA phone: (860) 679-8004
