No one wants to do it alone and at New Life House, you don t have to. Changing the things that aren t working, taking a leap of faith, letting go of old behaviors, these are scary ideas. Every man who has walked through the doors of NLH has felt alone. He wanted to regain his life, character and to be a part of something bigger yet he didn t know where to start. The young men at New Life House work together every step of the way, supporting each other through the recovery process. We don t do this alone. Through community living, peer power and a foundation built on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, our young men learn how to live effectively through life s ups and downs. We believe that the structure, discipline and the support of the 12 steps transform men and create true freedom. House members learn the value of showing up, walking through fears and contributing to life. We each have that internal something that drives us to be better men. Through determination we find it and through playing hard we celebrate it. Here men become motivated by the passion they see demonstrated in the graduates who went before them. Having 28+ years of a proven track record you don t have to have faith that it works you can see hundreds of graduates who prove that it works. New Life House men are united in purpose and recovery.

The first thing people experience when coming to New Life House is a sense of warmth and support. New Life House isn t a typical sober living. It s a home for those who are in it, those who graduated and those who support us. Our sober community is composed of hundreds of graduates and friends who come back to participate at New Life House dating back to 1985. Page 132 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous states, But we aren t a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn t want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life. We feel no different. We believe that if you are going to stay sober, sobriety must be more appealing than drinking and using once was. This means that life needs to be full of excitement and growth. Our graduates return to sponsor new members and take the guys to sober events and activities such as conventions, barbecues, surfing, dances and amusement parks. Our strength is in our numbers. When you come to New Life House, you become a part of a community that is based around having a great time in sobriety!

So-Cal sobriety is fun and exciting! To many people, Southern California is paradise. The Golden State is an ideal destination, sunny and dry all year round with easy access to the ocean, deserts and mountains. California is the hub for art, film, music, literature, cuisine and is home to some of the best public and private universities and colleges in the nation. Surf culture is king in Los Angeles and with hundreds of miles of coastline there is no shortage of beaches to enjoy. Los Angeles is at the pinnacle of what s happening in Southern California - with countless options for recreation and entertainment - without sacrificing your recovery. There are many options for outdoor activities located near Los Angeles including hiking at Runyon Canyon, surfing in Huntington Beach or Malibu and snowboarding at Bear Mountain. Hollywood Boulevard, The Hollywood Bowl, Santa Monica Pier and landmark museums like the Getty Center, the Museum of Natural History and the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits are just a few of the many renowned places of interest. Los Angeles is also home to the LA Kings, LA Lakers and the Staples Center where their home games are held. Southern California has one of the largest and most active sober communities in the country. There are over 3,000 12 Step meetings in the greater Los Angeles area weekly. Getting sober and maintaining sobriety is supported through active involvement in the recovery community. Becoming invested in the sober community of Southern California makes sobriety fun and allows those new in recovery to feel like a part of something that is in alignment with their changed priorities. A recovery community provides the support, hope and fun necessary for long-term sobriety. There is always something exciting to do when you re young and sober in Southern California!
