Builta PTA News September 2016 Upcoming Events - October: 13 Monthly Box Top Collection 14-21 PTA Fall Room Parties 18 Restaurant Night at Chipotle 22 PTA Monster Bash A message from the President, Sawani Chowdhury: Dear Builta Family, As the newly elected PTA President, I would like to welcome all the new families to our Builta Family and welcome back all the returning families. I look forward towards meeting and getting to know each one of you as we join our hands to get ready for another exciting and successful year. The PTA is an organization that is committed to making a difference in the education, health and safety of all of our children. The Builta PTA partners with the parents, teachers, staff and community on many levels to bring fun and educational programs, events, services and opportunities to our children to enrich their academic experience. With your support, we can continue to make Builta academically challenging and nurturing for our children. Your contribution, whether it is your time, knowledge, resources or moral support, makes a huge difference. This year we focus on improved communications with the members of the Builta Family. We are updating our website regularly, we are sending newsflashes twice a week about the upcoming events and volunteering opportunities, we are posting upcoming events and reminding about deadlines in our Facebook page Builta Elementary PTA, we have started online volunteer sign-up sheets so that you can check your availability and sign-up to volunteer for events from the comfort of your home. We are also starting a monthly Newsletter Builta PTA News to include everything that is happening in our big Builta Family and also in District 204. Along with social events, this year we are emphasizing on STEM activities. We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting our First Science Fair for students from K-5 in February. Thus, I personally invite you to become an involved member of the Builta PTA. Let us all get together to give our children the best elementary school experience they can possibly have. Thank you!!!

The Builta PTA is super excited to announce that we are organizing the 1 st Builta PTA Annual Science Fair for Grades K-5 in Builta. The event will be held in February. There will be an orientation session in December to give a detailed idea about the Science Fair. Dates of the fair and the orientation will be published in future Newsflashes and Newsletter. If you are willing to volunteer for the Science Fair, please use the following link to do so: https://goo.gl/forms/laa6jiwdhdxsfeyf2

Spotlight On On September 22, the Builta PTA sponsored an inspirational assembly called the NED SHOW for our children. What is the NED SHOW? For more information on The NED SHOW, visit their website at: http://www.thenedshow.com/index.html

Fundraising The PTA provides many events and services for our children and families like back-to-school assemblies, assignment notebooks, art awareness, Fall room parties, 5 th grade end-of-the-year celebration, STEM activities, Talent Show, Science Fair etc. In order for the PTA to sponsor these events, we have several fundraisers throughout the year. We do not expect you to support all of them, so please pick the ones that suit your needs. Our Fall Fundraiser is the Flower Power. Order deadline is October 15. Flower Power offers top quality flower bulbs, as well as herb gardens, cool storage, and wrapping paper. This is an on-line fundraiser with orders shipping directly to your home. You can order online by visiting: http://www.flowerpowerfundraising.com/campaign?campaign_id=23930 Spirit Wear: Thank you to everyone who ordered Builta Spirit Wear!!! Orders are now being processed and will be ready for delivery in approximately 2-3 weeks. Restaurant Nights: We had a great response in our first restaurant event at Yogurt Beach. Builta PTA thanks everyone who made this a success!!! Upcoming restaurant nights: October 18 Chipotle November 15 Vita Bella December 5 - Panera

The First Bingo Night of the year was a very successful event. The PTA almost ran out of chips. It was such a rewarding experience to see our children enjoying so much!!! We hope to bring many more of such fun filled family nights for you all throughout the year. Glimpses:

Always Needed The Builta PTA always needs volunteers. Since we offer so many wonderful services and events for our children throughout the year, volunteers are always needed to help ensure these events can all take place and run smoothly. Many of us work full time, but there are always nighttime events. ANY time you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everybody who are always there to lend a hand. We are fortunate to have a growing amount of volunteers, but could always use more. District 204 was shorted $4.5 million from the state for the 2015-2016 academic year. 3. Enrollment this year is 27,798. It is down from last year. In 2010, total enrollment was 30,000. 4. Heat Day and Heat Plan information is available on the District website. Also, Principals will send their own messages.
