Regional Scientific Update Meeting Featuring Highlights from ESHRE 2015: Latin America AIM OF SYMPOSIUM This live educational and scientific programme, jointly developed by TOPEC Global and EXCEMED, will provide attendees with late-breaking, clinically relevant information from a variety of sources including presentations given at the ESHRE 2015 annual meeting held in Lisbon, Portugal. BIOGRAPHIES INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM CHAIR Dr. Filippo Maria Ubaldi ROME, ITALY Global Fertility Academy Steering Committee Member Filippo Maria Ubaldi, MD, MSc is Medical Doctor, Clinical Director at the GENERA Centers for Reproductive Medicine in Rome, Marostica, Umbertide and Naples, Italy. With academic degrees in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Masters in Andrology and Reproductive Medicine, he is also intensely dedicated to educational, editorial and practitioner activities. Co-author of eight books on Reproductive Medicine, author and co-author of more than 100 scientific papers in peer review journals, 200 abstracts for national and international congresses and editor of the treaty Medicina della Riproduzione Umana in 2010. He has participated as speaker at more than 200 congresses and has been scientific organiser of 28 congresses, both national and international. Member of the ESHRE Executive Committee during 2005-2009, he has been Chairman of the 26th ESHRE Annual Meeting held in Rome in June 2010. FACULTY MEMBERS Prof. Maria Do Carmo Borges De Souza RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro UFRJ (1976), Master (1982) and PhD (1985) at UFRJ. As an Adjunct professor at UFRJ, served as Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in the biennium 2005-2006. Deputy Director at UFRJ Gynecology Institute and also Head of Division of Education and Research and Human Reproduction until December 2011. Director of FERTIPRAXIS (Reproduction Center accredited by the Red Latinoamericana de Assisted Reproduction. President of the Latin American Network Assisted Reproduction (REDLARA) in four years from 2011 to 2014. Member of the Brazilian Society of Assisted Reproduction (SBRA), Editor of JBRA Assisted Reproduction, official journal of SBRA and REDLARA. Two Scientific directories in CNPq, as a leader. Dr. Pablo Díaz-Spíndola MONTERREY, MEXICO Fellowship and research director, March 2006-April 2012 Medical Director of IECH Fertility Center, April 2012-Present Dr. Díaz-Spíndola s clinical interests include Infertility evaluation (female and male); Controlled ovary hiperstimulation and intrauterine insemination; Reproductive endocrinology; Assisted reproductive techniques: in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI); reproductive surgery (including microsurgery, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy). Dr. Díaz-Spíndola s research interests include Endometriosis, ovum donation program, embryo implantation, ovary induction protocols, and reproductive surgery. Fertility preservation, IVM/IVF Natural Cicle. Low cost IVF protocols. Dr. Díaz-Spíndola also is activlty involved in many programs, services, and centers including Intrauterine insemination and ovarian controlled hiperstimulation program; IVF and ICSI program in Fertility Center IECH, Monterrey, Mexico. Dr. Díaz-Spíndola attended Ignacio A. Santos Medical School ITESM, Monterrey, Mexico (1998) and did his OBGYN residency at Hospital San Jose-TEC de Monterrey ITESM Monterrey, Mexico (2004). His residency was followed by a fellowship at Fertility Center IECH Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (2006) and a Master in Sciences of education at Monterrey University (2012). He is a Board Certified Member of the OBGYN Mexican Federation, Certification of the Mexican College of OBGYN. Member of American Colleage of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Prof. Rui Ferriani RIBEIRAO PRETO, BRAZIL University of São Paulo, Faculty of Medicine Ribeirão Preto, Brazil Prof. Rui Ferriani was born in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. He graduated from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, Sao Paulo University, Brazil, in 1979. He had his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and received his Master in 1984 and his doctorate in 1988. He did a postdoctoral training in Reproductive Medicine at University of Cambridge, UK, during 1991-1992. He is Full Professor since 1997. He is an active member of the Faculty Staff of Ribeirão Preto Medical School, São Paulo University, a former Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the latter Institution and currently Chief of Human Reproduction Section of Hospital das Clínicas de Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo University. He is a former Member of Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa (CNPq) board. Prof. Rui Ferriani is currently President of Brazilian Society of Endometriosis (SBE), and is an active member of Brazilian Societies of Gynecological Endocrinology, Assisted Reproduction, Human Reproduction and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is also a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, North American Menopause Society and World Endometriosis Society. He has published numerous articles and has participated as guest professor in many national and international congresses. Dr. Marcos Horton BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA Founder and Co-Director, Pregna Medicina Reproductiva Marcos Horton obtained his degree in Medicine in 1990, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires (U.B.A.) in Argentina. His residency training was in Buenos Aires British Hospital, working under the Direction of Dr. Eduardo Alfonsín, a pioneer in microsurgical and laparoscopic surgery in Reproduction. He trained in Assisted Reproduction as a post-graduate fellow with Dr. Paulo Serafini in Huntington Reproductive Center, Pasadena, in 1994-95. He was later responsible for the Assisted Reproduction program at the Buenos Aires British Hospital, and also worked as medical staff in Fertilab Center in Buenos Aires from 1995-2007. In 2007 he founded Pregna Medicina Reproductiva and was its Medical Director until 2012, he is also founder of Pregna Foundation, devoted to research and promotion of Reproductive Medicine in his country. He was President of the Argentinian Society for Reproductive Medicine (SAMeR) during the period 2009-2011, actively participating as a consultant for the Parliament in the discussion of an IVF law to be passed in his country. He was part of the Commission that helped regulate a local law for the Province of Buenos Aires in 2010. Currently, he is part of the Accreditation Committee in SAMeR, that provides Accreditation for IVF units in Argentina, and the Argentinian IVF Registry (RAFA). His current responsibilities in Pregna and Pregna foundation are the supervision of Quality control in the ART lab and an ongoing research in metabolomics thanks to a grant received from Merck Serono (Grant for Fertility Innovation; GFI 2012). 7 GFA_LATAM_Syllabus_FNL2.indd 8

Dr. Martha Luna Rojas MEXICO CITY, MEXICO Dr. Martha Luna joined RMA of New York in 2005 and is currently Co-Director of RMA Mexico New York International. She completed her sub-specialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, and has a Masters in Clinical Embryology and Andrology from the Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine, which are highly recognized in the field of reproductive science. Before completing her sub-specialty, Dr. Luna was chief resident and graduated with honors of excellence from the Technology Institute of Superior Studies in Monterrey. She was also awarded for her clinical research participation in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Hospital San José-ITESM in Monterrey. She obtained her Doctorate degree with honors from the University of Guadalajara. Dr. Luna is the principal investigator for multiple studies and has published numerous articles on reproduction in international scientific medical journals. Her areas of expertise include decreased ovarian reserve, recurrent pregnancy loss, In-Vitro Fertilization and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. She has presented research at national and international scientific conferences. She is certified as a Gynecologist and Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist by the Mexican College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also editor of the Mexican Journal of Reproduction and is board member of the Mexican Association of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Sergio Papier BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA Dr. Sergio Papier, OB-GYN from Argentina, graduated from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is a specialist in Reproductive Medicine (SAMER) and the Medical Director of CEGYR.
