Relay for Life is one of the largest fundraising events in the world! It first started in America in 1985 and over the past 18 years it has been ever growing in the UK. In 2016, Yate Relay celebrated its 11 th anniversary year raising 56,000 bringing our grand total to 371,000 all of which has helped fund Cancer Research UK s lifesaving work! We have only been able to achieve this with the dedication of our volunteers, local community support and local business involvement. Together we have enabled Yate Relay for Life to become one of South Gloucestershire s biggest fundraising events. Our short term aim is to see Yate Relay for Life bring in a turnover of over 100,000 per event. With the right support we believe this to be possible. With your support we know it will be possible! Join us and become part of this very unique event. Each year we build on our community ties supporting families, carers and survivors. It is a unique event that symbolises; Fun, Friendship and Fundraising! not to mention the hope and inspiration that is created over a truly memorable weekend. Camping overnight, teams enjoy the amazing atmosphere, live music and entertainment is laid on throughout the day and night. Our Candle of Hope ceremony is a time to reflect and remember our loved ones. Our themed laps bring a link to cancer awareness and are an opportunity for everyone to get on the track and dress up and have fun! At Relay our dedicated team of volunteers work hard to engage with the local community, bringing survivors of cancer together to form a local support network. Our Cancer Awareness team also work closely with local schools and clubs to help educate about spotting early signs and the importance of regular checks. Whatever level of support you are able to give, it is only by working together and giving what you can that we will make a difference. You can help us take a step further forward in the fight against cancer. Whether you wish to become a sponsor, provide a gift in kind, a raffle prize or small donation, we will greatly appreciate your belief in Cancer Research UK s Relay for Life.
