Reaching More Children In More Ways ship Proposal

Because of You Impactful change is made through the work of the ACH Auxiliary. Mission Established in 1967, the Arkansas Children s Hospital Auxiliary has grown to include more than 500 women who support the work of Arkansas Children s Hospital (ACH) and the Arkansas Children s Research Institute (ACRI). Members give their time, energy and talents in order to raise funds for medical care, state-of-the-art technology We champion children by making them better today and healthier tomorrow. and a wide range of outreach and innovative support programs for children and families. The Auxiliary undertakes five major projects each year including Arkansas a la Carte, the Holiday Card Project, Miracle Ball, Race for a Healthier Tomorrow, and the ACHiever program. Auxiliary volunteers also manage the Playaway Gift Shop in the hospital lobby. Throughout the past five years, the Auxiliary has contributed more than a $1,000,000 annually to the hospital. These gifts have funded such programs as David M. Clark Center for Safe and Healthy Children, Arkansas Children s Research Institute, as well as the Comfort Foods, Good Mourning, and Palliative Care programs. Get Engaged: Be a Champion for Children As a sponsor, you can be a driving force in improving the lives of children in Arkansas. Your partnership is crucial to the success of the Auxiliary achieving their annual goal of giving back to Arkansas Children s Hospital and Arkansas Children s Research Institute.

Our REQUEST Thank you for the opportunity to present this request for a gift to Arkansas Children s through the work of the ACH Auxiliary. Arkansas á la Carte is our chic spring fundraiser featuring more than 25 of Arkansas finest eateries on Thursday, March 14, 2019. The Holiday Card project is our first and longest running fundraiser, featuring ACH patient artwork. Card sales will kick-off October 1. Miracle Ball is our annual black-tie gala in Central Arkansas with more than 550 guests each year. Race for a Healthier Tomorrow is in its inaugural year and will include a 5K timed race and a 1-Mile Family Fun Walk for all ages and activity levels. ACHievers is comprised of 9th grade girls and boys who are interested in community service, learning more about medical sciences careers and the importance of philanthropy in their community. Your Impact Your gift will help the Auxiliary commit to funding these programs and initiatives: Improving the Patient Experience: The Auxiliary has committed $1 million this fiscal year to improvements to outdoor spaces on the Hospital campus. These improvements will provide patients and families with four restorative benefits environments for social support, a sense of control, physical movement and positive distractions. Arkansas Children s Research Institute: The Auxiliary supports the research efforts with a gift of $50,000. Comfort Foods Program: The Auxiliary dedicates time and a gift of $30,000 to feed patient families a free, hot meal once a month outside of the hospital room. Center for Good Mourning & Palliative Care Program: The Auxiliary is compelled to support these two programs with a $75,000 gift to provide support to bereaved children and families. Our commitment to improving the Patient Experience Outdoor spaces are key to enhancing wellness they let kids be kids, even in the healthcare setting. Outdoor play is important for the healthy growth and development of children. When children play outside they are able to use their fine and gross motor skills and imagination to explore. Outdoor play also provides an appropriate means of self expression and helps development of social skills and cardiovascular endurance. Outdoor space is also an integral component of the healing process. Research-based evidence suggests that the outdoors provides four restorative benefits: an environment that provides for social support, a sense of control, physical movement and positive distractions. Because a hospital visit or stay can be stressful for patients and their families, outdoor spaces provide a sense of normalcy and an opportunity to escape the often serious nature of the hospital environment. Unfortunately, the Little Rock campus lacks adequate outdoor therapeutic spaces. With support from partners like you, a new level of imaginative, calming and healing outdoor spaces will be created to better serve children and their families. Plans for the campus include things like walking paths, water features, outdoor eating areas and gardens. Together, we will help reduce stress, promote wellbeing and encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
