January 17- Autism Community Liaison attended the 1st Autism Community Advisory Board (CAB) Los Angeles, CA 90028 Goal is to build community capacity is the ability of a particular community to address important issues using resources found within that community. We could significantly add to those resources just by identifying what those issues are and contributing other useful knowledge. January 18- Family Resource Center Program Manager and Family Resource Center Parent Advocate held Parent Education Trainings in English and Spanish on Communication & Language Development in Infant and Toddlers. January 20- Family Resource Center Program Manager participated in a panel discussion on the PRRS at LACOE s EISS meeting. January 24 - Clinical Nurse Manager and Consumer Advocate presented at Watts Health Center on SCLARC services and referral process. January 24- Family Resource Center Staff in collaboration with the Office of Clients Rights Advocacy held a parent education group on Changes to the Lanterman Act. January 25- Autism Community Liaison attended the Autism Society of Los Angeles. Adults and Autism and focused on housing, employment, and quality of life issues surrounding adults with autism. The challenges, goals set for the future, developing model adult programs, housing and policies as well as strategies to implement them. This forum was intended to help shape recommendations for the future and guide efforts to advocate for these proposals with policymakers. January 26- Education Specialist attended the DCFS Collaborative Planning Meeting. February February 1- Family Resource Center Parent Advocate held Parent Education training in English on Introduction to the IEP and Special Education in Collaboration with Christine Armand, Office of Clients Rights Advocacy. This monthly the AA proudly hosted Autism and Medication training conducted by Dr. Chris Obrien on Medication Management with person with Autism.
