We had a combined changeover with Bundanoon Lions Club. PDG Geoff Hobart installed Bill Bransom and his new board of Bowral Lions and Elizabeth Cranny and her new board of Bundanoon Lions club. NEW BOARD OF LIONS CLUB OF BOWRAL NEW BOARD OF LIONS CLUB OF BUNDANOON The biggest surprise was when PDG Geoff Hobart presented a speechless Tom Dolan with the Melvin Jones Award. Tom thanks the Board and members for considering and recommending him for this wonderful award. Then there was a 4 th of July Party at Riverwood. Guess who attended? Activities Account $13,807.35 Administration Account $$3,024.86 Term Deposit Account $10,000.00 From the Board EXTRACTS from Minutes of Board Meeting No 2017/18.01 held at 10 am on 20 th July 2017 at BDCU, Bowral Present: BB, TD, GM, WL, RB, JJ Chairman: President Bill Bransom Apologies: NM, PU, RH Minutes: Minutes of the previous meeting held in June 2017 were accepted. Matters Arising: Public Officer Scott Leary will remain Public Officer. It was confirmed that a Public Officer must resign from the position of Public Officer even if he resigns from Lions if he/she does not then they will still be deemed Public Officer for that club. Following Matt McCarthy s resignation from Lions, Lion Terry Lane has agreed to continue with the Save Sight Program by collecting Glasses from venues and sending them to Queensland. Matters discussed and actions A. Letter from Doctor re Patient who may need assistance. President Bill and Director Wendy went to see the lady concerned and reported back to the Board that this family needs some help. It was moved, seconded and agreed that we should help this family. There are a number of things that this family needs and the first priority on the list was a new bed, Russell Brangwin has agreed to talk to Beds R Us and see what they can do to help. Second on list was a Freezer with drawers and Tom Dolan will check with Harvey Norman to see what they can do. B. Objectives for the year President Bill presented some of his objectives for the year C. Tours and Outings A list of Tours and Outings was tabled for consideration- Board agreed that Secretary Tom should send the list to Members and ask for their choice of at least 5 Graeme Moffatt has agreed to be the Tours and Outings Director D. 2 meetings per month The Board discussed responses received and lack of responses and the conclusion was that we agree to stay with the direction agreed by members of the previous Board at the meeting held in March, namely that we have 1 meeting per month, held the week after the Board Meeting E. Christmas Party booking It was agreed that the Christmas Party should be held at the Scottish Arms on Saturday 16 th December and that Treasurer Graeme finalise this with them. F. Jackets for the Homeless Project It was agreed that Secretary send an email to members with a request that if they have any good jackets that they no longer wear or need, they bring same to the Dinner meeting next week. G. Change of Invocation / Welcome
It was discussed and agreed that we refer back to the original Invocation of the Club and that Secretary Tom make up new dinner place mats H. Challenge House update We have now delivered all of the kitchen appliances and are awaiting a timeframe from the builder as to when they need the other items. Total cost of all items was $20,197.00 and as we received a grant from ALF of $11,812.00, the Board agreed to refund ALF $1,812.00 which means we pay $10,197.00 and the grant would be $10,000.00 totalling $20,197.00 I. BBQ at Bunnings 5 th August Secretary to send out email to members asking for assistance J. Tow Bar for Ute - Lion Johnno spoke on this matter and his negotiated agreement for Bowral Lions to buy a tow bar at cost price of $350.00 and have it fitted free. The Board ratified this agreement. K. Working Bee to clean Ute Lion Johnno has asked that members come to his home at 18 Caley St Bowral on Saturday morning 22 nd July to help clean up the Ute by washing and scraping any muck off the vehicle. L. Vehicle Insurance We have received a cover note for insurance until Trailer insurance runs out and then there shall be an Annual Insurance cost. This year we have valued the vehicle with new trailer body at $4,000.00 for which insurance shall cost $302.00 M. Tulip Time Festival It was discussed and agreed that we ask members if they are interested in manning gates during the Festival at Corbett Gardens. Membership: stands at 22 LIONS LAUGH A woman was standing before the bedroom mirror, admiring herself in her new outfit before going out. She posed this way and that before her husband, who looked on with disinterest remarked, 'Your bum is the size of a 3-burner Barbecue!' Later that evening, tucked up and cosy in bed he lent over, tapped her on the shoulder, and said, 'How bout it? She replied 'No thanks, it s not worth lighting the whole Barbecue for half a sausage!'
