Tke the inititive to work with members of your group in preprtion for your time in Afric Develop nd implement fundrising ides to meet the 1,000 fundrising trget before you trvel Work longside existing teching stff in nominted schools in South Afric, Tnzni or Ghn to deliver the Mths or nglish curriculum, often with few resources nd indequte furniture Work full working week teching round 5 to 6 different clsses of up to 75 children for normlly 7 hours dy plus some Sturdys nd extr-curriculr nd revision ctivities. Duties will lso include lesson plnning, lesson preprtion nd mrking. Identify lerners lck of knowledge nd tech bckground topics to llow the introduction of more dvnced topics. Coch smll groups of children on specific topics. FURTHR PARTICULARS Sfety nd Conduct Teching will tke plce in res of deprivtion in Tnzni, South Afric nd Ghn. Students who re chosen to tke prt re required to ttend compulsory trining sessions. Any students with ongoing helth considertions should discuss their fitness to trvel to such res with their doctor before pplying nd should only pply if they nd their doctor re confident tht they will not be likely to require medicl ttention nd tht their trvel to Afric will not cuse ny helth considertions to be dversely ffected or pose thret to their helth. Any medicl conditions or mediction you re tking must be disclosed to the progrmme tem. At ll times while in Afric you will be representing the University. Your own personl sfety nd tht of the group during your time on the progrmme re of prmount importnce. We expect ll involved to tke these considertions very seriously nd we therefore require ll progrmme prticipnts to sign up nd dhere to Code of Conduct (see below for informtion) before their plce on the progrmme is confirmed. Any brech of tht Code will be tken very seriously nd will be subject to the University s disciplinry procedures. For this reson, nd for security resons, excessive consumption of lcohol during the trip is prohibited. Selection Process nd Provisionl Dtes To be considered for plce on the Wrwick in Afric progrmme you must be ble to ttend one of the selection dys in person, dtes to be nnounced. All successful pplicnts will lso be required to ttend compulsory trining sessions, the first session will tke plce on Sturdy 4 th Februry. Further dtes to be nnounced All pplicnts must be vilble to trvel from the end of term. Dtes will be confirmed s soon s possible fter selection. Subsistence nd xpenses The exct detil of wht will be funded for prticipnts will differ ccording to the destintion country nd locl circumstnce but will include: Insurnce Flights from UK Airport (trvel from your home to UK irport is not covered) Trnsfers in Afric Accommodtion A dily stipend to cover bsic mel costs Refund of essentil vccintions Viss for trvel to Tnzni nd Ghn if necessry Some excursions Vis Requirements If you require vis to trvel you will be required to submit your pssport to the Wrwick in Afric Progrmme Office for period of severl weeks to llow for vis rrngements to be mde. If you re not willing or ble to do so you will be required to rrnge your own vis where necessry. DBS Checks Successful pplicnts will need to pply for DBS check (nhnced plus Child s Brred List), if you hve lived outside of the UK for more thn 6 months in the pst 5 yers you need to obtin criminl record check from the country(ies) where you hve lived during tht period. This is commonly referred to s Certificte of Good Conduct. You will lso need to pply for DBS check (UK criminl records check) in ddition to the Certificte of Good Conduct.
